"The excellent grading with the protection of a rubber liner and river rock along two foundation walls in July 2019 prevented my basement from flooding recently when my sprinkler manifold next to the foundation broke and water spilled out for 1 1/2 hours, but none came in the basement! Chris and his son were hard-working, efficient, professional, and reasonably priced. I would highly recommend them and their work!"

"First off Angi exposed me to great talent. Patterson Landscapes was fantastic, the pre-work thru proposal was top notch. The crew was outstanding, cleaned up all the work spaces and left the yard looking great. I would recommend Tayler and Patterson Landscapes. All the neighbors have already commented how nice the stone work and cleanup was executed. Can't wait for the high desert yard green up!"

"Perfect experience from start to finish. The advice, selection and installation was flawless. Price of the stone was some what higher due to acquisition and shipping cost in Denver. The marble required was very specific and not readily available. Otherwise, I highly recommend Planet Granite and would use them again if need be."

"Everything was good and they did work over the winter, which was very appreciative. They were professional, reasonable, timely, and very responsive. They did leave behind some trash, debris, and gravel in our grass area. Some of that was difficult because of the snow, but there was no discussion or plan to remedy this later."

"It went Awesome!! Wesley drew up a plan of what he could do in my front yard including plants and flowers and rock and mulch. The price he quoted also included changing my sprinkler system into a drip system to help maintain the health of all of the new plants. Everything turned out beautiful. I have gotten so many compliments from family and neighbors!! I recommended him to my parents that needed some things done in their yard and they have also been extremely pleased with everything. I would highly recommend Wesley to anyone looking to refresh or replace and landscaping they might need."

"Excellent. Daniel did an excellent job on evaluating our system. He found some problems with water flow and suggested a plumber evaluation. I will get that done. He did a thorough job and I expect once the water flow problem is solved I will have a much better system. I will definitely use American Sprinkler to bring the system up to par."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Palmer Lake, CO

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
