"I had Lux come out to do foundation work on our home, as well as exterior waterproofing. It was a large job, and as a first-time homeowner, I didn’t know what to expect. Miguel and his team were efficient and did a great job. They communicated very well, which I really appreciated, and the job was completed in about a week. They ran into a small snag during the work, but were able to locate the issue and fix it quickly. They were very flexible and understanding, even after the job when I had a few follow-up questions. I would definitely use them again!"

They even did a fantastic job of cleanup when they were done. Work was great and answered all questions I had."

"I've had four previous foundation contractors come to the house who performed inspections of the foundation and all gave different answers. Howard Glancy with JES was the first to expertly use laser measurements and moisture readings to accurately diagnose the problem. His detailed explanations of the issues matched the readings and physical signs of the problems(cracked bricks, drywall, some mold, and bowing basement wall). He certainly gained my trust where the others did not and although extremely expensive, the costs did not seem unreasonable given the work that needed to be done to properly secure and waterproof my foundation and I signed the contract with JES. Hopefully the job will be as effective and professional as the inspection."

"Very honest guy.  Pointed out some cheaper fixes to try (not involving his company) before investing in a major waterproofing.  Other companies wanted to charge $3000 to $6000 to implement a solution without clearly identifying the problem.  He suggested that I call him if we had water infiltration after implementing his recommendations so he could come out promptly to try to identify the cause. <br />"

"I used and recommend Allstate American Waterproofing. They were fabulous. I was pleased with their professionalism, responsive, and knowledgable they were. When Bob came out to do the assessment, he knew exactly what he was doing. I was very happy with their services and I will use them again. He also gave us a discount."

"This worked out even better than we'd hoped. Mr. Charles Smith, who owns CMS Insulation, came to bid on the job. Mr. Smith returned our initial call that evening and we scheduled a walk-through. Before that date he called to confirm, and appeared at the agreed-upon time. This may not be his usual practice, but since he was quite busy he asked if he could come on a Sunday, which was indeed convenient for us.   <br /> <br /> During the walk-through, he took measurements, noted any potential trouble spots (such as those described previously), and discussed the pros and cons of various types of insulation in addition to the kind that he provides. (Note: we had discussed with all 3 bidders for our renovation the kinds of insulation, all of whom agreed that closed-cell foam was "best" in terms of the efficiency of insulation ("R" value) and impermeability to water, and also provides some additional structural rigidity, although it was commented that this was the most expensive choice.) He let us know that he needed at least 5 days' notice to schedule the job. <br /> <br /> We appreciated his thoroughness and professionalism, and how low-key and nice he was. <br /> <br /> He arrived on time with his son with a pick-up truck and large trailer, and they prepped the basement (e.g., covering windows and outlet boxes). They put on their protective gear and sprayed in the insulation, frequently checking it for proper depth and coverage. (You can touch the product within 10 seconds of application, and it cures in 30 minutes.) They completed the job in 5 hours. They also made sure to clean all overspray off of all of the stud walls and carefully swept up any debris.   <br /> <br /> Both Mr. Smith and his son were always extremely courteous and a real pleasure to deal with."

"I had a 50-year-old house with a cinderblock basement wall that had water slowly coming through. I researched the various firms that did waterproofing and had three highly rated firms come out for an estimate. The first contractor didn’t even bring a flashlight and just looked around and said to keep an eye on it. The second gentlemen did provide detailed estimate and carefully explained the problem. Randy, the owner, from Chamberlin Washington provided a similar diagnosis and estimate. His estimate was not only a little less expensive but he looked at the entire house and found other things that could use some maintenance. This is what I liked about Randy – he looked at the whole house and discovered several smaller things that should be fixed to avoid issues down the road. These were all things I knew about already but I’m glad someone took the time to examine the entire house and not just the one issue I was having. We had then not only waterproof the outside wall but also fill the expansion joints in our patio and seal one basement window as well as re-point some mortar joints in the brink chimney. When the crew came they went to work. They also did an admirable job protecting our plants. An old section of of a 6' high stockade fence had to be removed and I bough a new section and the crew was happy to put that up. When they water tested the wall they found a small leak. They re-did the sealant and that did the trick. Randy came out and supervised critical parts of the job. He was great to work with and happily fixed a few small things at the end. Randy really cares about doing the job right. I am 100% pleased with the work they did. I watched over much of the repair and everything was done correct and by the book. Overall I can't say enough about how pleased I was with Chamberlin-Washington and their work. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone."

FAQs for foundation, basement or crawlspace waterproofing / encapsulation projects in Paw Paw, WV

The most affordable way to waterproof your basement is with interior methods like waterproof paint, costing between $1 and $8 per square foot, or silicate concrete sealers priced at $4 to $6 per square foot. However, these solutions are only suitable for certain issues. If your basement moisture is due to more serious problems like a cracked foundation, you'll need more extensive (and costly) repairs.

Absolutely! Waterproofing your basement is a smart investment that can increase your home's value. By keeping your basement dry and free of moisture problems, you protect your home's structural integrity and make it more appealing to potential buyers. Plus, taking proactive measures now can prevent costly water damage repairs down the line.

The time required to waterproof a basement depends on the selected method. Some approaches to interior waterproofing, like paint or sealant, can be completed within a day. Installing new drains or weeping tiles will need at least two to three days of labor. Any forms of exterior waterproofing that require you to excavate land will require an additional three days of work to prepare the ground.

Yes, basement waterproofing can significantly increase your home's value. A dry, leak-free basement is a strong selling point for potential buyers, enhancing your property's desirability and market price. Investing in professional waterproofing not only protects your home's structural integrity but also ensures a healthier living environment by preventing mold and mildew growth.

Waterproofing both the interior and exterior of your basement offers the best protection against moisture. Exterior waterproofing stops water from penetrating your foundation, while interior methods manage any moisture that does enter. If you must choose one, exterior waterproofing is generally more effective, as it prevents water from reaching your home's interior in the first place.
