"Over the past six months my wife and I had obtained estimates from a few contactors to upgrade our kitchen. We considered everything from new custom cabinets, to tearing down a wall and expanding into an adjacent room. The estimates came in very high, anywhere from $12 - 17 K, and in most cases the contractors were only interested in doing part of what we needed done to improve the whole kitchen. We decided to look at renovating our kitchen without any major construction.

Then, we found Rick "The Handyman" Holdridge on Angie's List and decided to give him a call. When he arrived for the "estimate", it was truely refreshing to speak with someone with an open mind and willing to consider whatever we wanted, who offered practical and economical alternatives to typically expensive upgrades, and, most importantly, offered straightforward pricing that we could comprehend. Rick tells you right up front that he charges by the hour and settles up at the end of each week. He offered us the option of either purchasing the supplies and equipment ourselves, or he would purchase it for us and provide the receipt for reimbursement. With all the purchases he made for us at Lowes, he passed along the 5% discount he received. Imagine that. No mark up, and he passed along his discount to us!

Rick was able to start the project within about a week of when he said he would. He showed up on the job and went right to it. He regularly asked us how we thought things were going, and was always open to our ideas. If we thought something needed more attention he would say, "no problem", and fix it with a smile. He straightened up the job area at the end of each day and did his best to avoid disrupting our life and living space.

All said and done, Rick provided us with an excellent product for a reasonable price. He is experienced, professional and forthright. We are extremely happy with his work.
