"Allied Outdoor Solutions installed a paver patio for us. It is awesome and they were awesome. I’m not sure if we got lucky or if all their crews are as good as ours was. Carlos, Jeremy and Javier nailed it. They worked very hard, paid attention to detail and were super nice and polite. Also, during the COVID-19 stay-at-home order, Carlos proactively communicated with us regarding delays and rescheduling, reassuring us that we would be a priority as soon as they were able to work on site again (and kept his word during a challenging time). We would definitely go with Allied Outdoor Solutions again! Lester & Merryl Carson Fort Worth, TX"

"Before the City dug, Ramon moved 12+ feet of stacked rock from around the front flower bed to protect it. After the City finished their work, Ramon re-built the rock retaining wall, extending it to cover the new (WHITE) clean-out pipe installed right in front. He added some extra rock from the back of our yard, hard work on a hot day. He added a 2nd sprinkler head to the bigger flower bed & filled it with good soil & new plants. Looks great! Ramon noticed our front lawn sprinklers weren't working, so dug a long trench to find the line. City workers had cut the line & fixed it a twist of wire! Ramon got the correct supplies & fixed that, too. He does good work and works hard. We'll recommend him to friends."

"Jordan, the manager was awesome. He was incredibly knowledgeable of his product and was able to come and measure the house the very next day. The plan was for the installation to take five days. The installers for the tile were prompt and efficient. The install only took three days. The carpet installation only took six hours. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to remodel their home. They may be a bit pricy, but you definitely are paying for what you get: excellent service, diligent workers, and efficient installation."

"Jeff and his crew came promptly and did an awesome job. I had a leaks in a PVC pipe (due to my accidentally puncturing it during my Christmas Light setup last season). I also had a couple of sprinkler heads that needed replacing, plus an irrigation Zone that was malfunctioning. Fresh Start Landscapes have done my landscaping and irrigation work since I purchased this home new in 2008. They are a wonderful company and I am proud to call them MY pros for these types of jobs."

"Project went great. There was a three week waiting list before the job could start simply due to how busy they were. I saw this as a good sign, though. The impact to me and the yard was minimal, as minimal as it could be given the project. John communicated with me frequently before and throughout the project and ensured that the project was completed as per his high standards. He also came and walked me through the system when it was complete. John was also very clear about the length of time that it would take for the grass to heal after the upheaval. So far, I'm impressed with the system. It's definitely a huge improvement over the older system, with much greater flexibility. The ability to hook up potted plants onto the lines is a huge bonus. The after-installation services included are also impressive; several check-ups and adjustments throughout the the first year to ensure that the system is performed as expected and that the yard is responding well. I also like the fact that they have access to a horticulture specialist to help if there are some particular issues with certain plants. <br />"

"Mark Reyna and his team did a great job replacing the driveway and repairing a tiled patio. They were able to match the tile and so the patio looks good as new. The driveway installation was fairly painless and looks very good. Would highly recommend."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Pearland, TX

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
