Customers say: True professional

"The whole project went well, exactly as I requested, and completed in less than a day. Rehired for a fencing project which also went well. I found then to be efficient, pleasant very respectful. Cleaned up after themselves once each project was complete. Have plans to rehire for other future projects."

"J. came and gave me a fair estimate. He did come back when there was no rain in the forecast and did a nice job filling in my cracks and sealcoating my driveway. I would recommend them. Other vendors I called did not even call me back or show up for an estimate."

"Pacific Stone did a nice job. Person in charge of scheduling measurements and installation was pleasant and courteous. Within a few days of my inquiry they came out to my house to take measurements and they brought samples to choose from. Installation was done within a few weeks after that. Took away the old countertops and sinks. They know what they're doing. One of the installers was actually the owner and they were prompt and professional and cleaned up well."

"It went great. We were in good hands with the Ranieri family throughout the entire project. They are extremely reliable, diligent about keeping us informed about the process, and deeply knowledgeable about concrete deck installation and pool installation and care. Our 30+ year old 20x40 inground pool had crumbling old pavers around it and the pool plumbing needed replacing before we could put a deck in. The Ranieris were a one-stop-shop for this work. They replaced the plumbing, installed a new skimmer box, and poured a gorgeous curved edged 10' patio on one side and 4' deck around the rest of the pool. They are excellent communicators, keeping us informed all throughout the process and coordinated directly with our electrician to get the new ground wire installed and permitted before they poured. No hiccups at all with this process. This work happened this spring 2022, so there were supply and delivery issues with concrete that are outside of the contractor's control. From our perspective, the wait wasn't too bad, and the Ranieris kept us informed every step of the way. Their work is both art and science. We love what they built for us. We would hire the Ranieris for any future projects, and we highly recommend them."

"I hired Caisse Construction to demo a large concrete swimming pool and surrounding concrete pool deck, and to build a patio in its place. I had quotes from other contractors for the pool demo, but no one else actually had a formula to calculate costs and provide a breakdown. I did not have definite specs for the patio, and this is where Sean excelled. He had great ideas about what could be done and offered many useful suggestions and advice about the cost/benefit trade-offs. We settled on a two-level patio with a partial wall that could also be used for seating. The new patio was connected to an existing garden area with walk-ways. Another benefit to hiring Caisse is that I liked the idea of one contractor that could do both the demo and the new patio. Once the job started, Sean and his crew worked very hard, showing up early each day and working throughout the day. At the end of the construction, the entire area was left clean, and the yard was landscaped with hydroseeding and mulch. As an added bonus, Sean was able to use some large boulders that a neighbor offered as fill, and construct a firepit with natural stone around the area. I could not be happier with the new patio and how much the yard has improved."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Pelham, NH

Most shed foundations benefit from a gravel layer four to six inches deep after proper compaction. The exact depth may vary depending on your specific soil conditions, climate, and shed weight. In areas with poor drainage or for heavier structures, contractors might recommend slightly deeper installations. Building the pad in multiple compacted layers rather than a single thick pour helps achieve optimal stability and load distribution.

Gravel pads cost significantly less than concrete foundations. While gravel materials run about $1.25 to $1.80 per square foot, concrete slabs average $6 per square foot. For a standard shed base, this price difference translates to substantial savings. Beyond the initial cost advantage, gravel pads also offer easier installation, simpler modifications if needed, and don't require specialized concrete finishing skills.

For a standard 10-by-12 shed pad, you'll need enough gravel to cover 120 square feet at the recommended depth. At rates of $1.25 to $1.80 per square foot, expect to spend $150 to $216 on gravel materials alone. Remember to factor in extending the pad beyond the shed's dimensions by one to two feet on each side for better drainage and stability, which increases the actual area needed.

The ideal gravel for shed foundations combines stability with proper drainage capabilities. Crusher run ($0.40 per square foot) makes an excellent base layer because it contains various particle sizes that lock together when compacted. For top layers, angular gravel provides better drainage while maintaining stability. Avoid perfectly round decorative stones as they don't compact effectively and may shift under weight, compromising your shed's stability over time.
