"Our washing machine broke down on Saturday afternoon -- why do appliances always break on the weekend? -- and it is no longer covered by warranty. We had used A & S before and were very satisfied with their service so we thought we would try them again.  We called them early Monday morning and they agreed to send a tech between 3:00 and 6:00 that day.  At 3:00, the tech Schuyler called to inform us that he would be at our home in 10 minutes.  We showed him the washer and described the problem.  He checked out the unit and quickly diagnosed the problem as a broken motor coupler.  He gave us an estimate for the time and cost to repair and we agreed.  He had the necessary part and tools in his truck and quickly returned to make the repair. He carefully moved a few things out of his way in the laundry room and tilted the washer in order to make the repair.  All told, he took about 15 minutes to remove the damaged part and install the replacement.  After he re-positioned the washer and replaced the items that he had to move, he tested the machine thoroughly and let it run while he returned his tools to his truck and wrote up the invoice.  He also gave us his cell phone number so we could call him in case we noticed any problems with the repair.  The invoice price matched the estimate exactly, as it should.  Overall, it was another excellent experience with a very good service company."

"Dave quoted me a price of $175 on the phone to change out the backboard. We were away when he completed the task (did a fine job). I sent him pics of the backboard ahead of time so he knew what the job entailed. Actually changing a backboard should pretty much be the same every time but I digress. When we got home from vacation we found the box from the new backboard propped up in front of the house (he knew we were away and I feel strongly he should have taken it home with him. Not because it's such a big deal to throw away but because it screams this house is empty. Then he billed us $300 instead of the agreed upon $175 because of and I quote (all of the nuts and bolts). I questioned this and he didn't really have a response. I sent a check for $175 and as far as I'm concerned this relationship started and ended with this project. I really don't like to be taken advantage of.

"Joe did a through job of researching appropriate lighting that would improve the lighting in the kitchen area and also meet our price range.   He sent several options by e-mail outlining the pros and cons of the units.   When a decision was made he ordered and picked up the lighting units and then installed them  during the drying  time when our floors were being refinished on the second floor.   The installation is very attractive, the connecting cords are not visible and secured under the shelving.   When finished he cleaned up all of the drilling debris and since we were temporarily out of the house he e-mailed up photos of the finished project."
