"Valon from Luxury Carpentry was awesome. Very professional, quick to respond, and top notch workmanship. My deck was falling apart and needed replacement. Luxury Carpentry showed up, gave me a very reasonable estimate and within a day my deck was completely overhauled and cannot be any happier. Very happy and highly recommend Luxury Carpentry."

"My experience with Reeds Ferry Sheds was amazing. I dealt with Bill and Tim Carlton and they live up to their motto that the customer comes first and they go above and beyond to make you happy. They installed a 14x24 shed and every aspect of the planning to delivery and set up went very smoothly. The team that installed the shed were prompt, friendly and professional. I highly recommend anyone to buy from them . You won't be disappointed."

"Ed and his crew did such an excellent job on our kitchen, dining room, and deck. Ed was super responsive, and was great to communicate with through email or text. Ed was great at making recommendations while still leaving the decisions to us. The attention to detail was top notch, and Ed and Bob did an excellent job fitting up our cabinets, window, and new door, as well as the flooring and all the other details. Ed was very accommodating to changes during the job. He and his crew also got the job done quickly, which was great for a kitchen renovation. They worked hard to ensure the process was smooth and as non-disruptive as possible. Ed was onsite every day, either working alongside his crew or coordinating with contractors, and he and his crew take pride in their work. Ed works with great businesses, including Karen of Friend Lumber who was so helpful and experienced in helping us select the cabinet style and layout, and Brian of Nashua Tile who was also very helpful in helping us pick out our tile. Ed and crew were a pleasure to work with. Everyone loves our new kitchen, and we are so happy we chose Ed to be our contractor. We highly recommend him!"

"This was an exercise in detail and quality work; dents and holes in wall weren't just repaired, a skim coat was added to the entire wall--like new. Repairs were explained for purpose and function. <br /> We were provided with ideas and options for layout as well as pricing ranges that were affordable. <br /> The attention to detail was excellent--from work done to clean-up at the end of the day. The pace of the work was good--not so fast we didn't see what was done but fast enough so that we did not lose the use of the kitchen for more than a short period. <br /> The workmanship was superior. <br /> We liked being kept in the loop as to progress and conditions--as we were called at night with updates every few days if we did not get home before the worker was done for the day. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"Overall, the project went well. No project of this size is without issues, but in the grand scheme of things, the CrossRoads folks did what they said they would do, when they said it would be done, and for the price they quoted...they had experienced carpenters who worked with us to address daily questions/challenges. You really can't ask for more than that. Before we even signed a contract, we went through a month of design review/changes. They did a lot of work for us before we handed them one cent. They were at our house every morning promptly at 7am, they were super good about dust control (since we were living in the house during construction), as well as keeping the outdoor elements at bay. They took 1/2 our roof off in January in New England, and our heating bill was not different than what it normally is (which speaks to how well they tried to keep the work area separate from our living area). They worked with us to address 'add-ons,' asked us about things before they just 'did them,' they were not afraid to ask our opinion on how we wanted things to go, and kept us in the loop during the entire job. We were clear that the space had to be comfortable, usable, and that we wanted the addition to look like it was always there...and not to change the front of the house...that the new addition should integrate overall with the look/feel of the house (colonial with a gambrel roof). They did just that, leaving the original roof line as a 'squirrel run.." Neighbors have commented and continue to comment on how efficiently they worked, how good their work was, and how neat/clean they were...and how nice the house looks! I will use this 'women owned' company again (their quote talks about the standards of 'work woman-ship....:o)"

FAQs for garage building service projects in Peterborough, NH

A well‑constructed, properly permitted detached garage adds between $12,000 and $36,000 to a home’s resale value. Buyers appreciate the secure parking, extra storage, and flexible workspace, so appraisers often bump the property’s value accordingly. The exact return depends on the garage’s size, finishes, and how well it matches the main house, but most homeowners see a strong ROI when the build meets local codes and passes inspection.

Yes—once it meets local building codes and you secure the proper permits, a detached garage can be converted into living space. Finishing the interior, adding climate control, and ensuring safe egress effectively increase your usable square footage, though it may not always count toward the official listing. Skipping permits can trigger fines and even force you to undo the work, so always clear plans with your city first.

Most homeowners policies cover a detached garage under the “other structures” provision, but coverage limits vary. Review your declarations page and ask your agent how much protection you have for separate structures. If the limit is lower than the garage’s replacement cost, you can raise it for a modest premium. Confirming the details now prevents headaches if you ever need to file a claim.
