"Brad was a true professional. After his diagnosis of the issues, he clearly laid out his plan and what needed to be done to install our new outlets. He provided price options for other improvements we could make. During the project, he had to fish through our fireplace and walls, and did so very carefully. For the holes needed for the fishing, he patched up perfectly. We now have an outlet on our stone fireplace (for a mounted tv) and another for gaming consoles and other peripherals. Before leaving, he provided a list of other services and home improvements to keep in mind, which was great since we just moved in to a new home a couple weeks ago. We’ll definitely be working with Brad again in the future!"

"This service was great. Alex came to the house to look at the work and checked the general safety of electrical system in the house. It was a lot of work, two guys for the whole day including all the parts. A neighbor promised me that I would be paying for a lot of extras once the bill came in. that certainly wasn't the case. The bill was for exactly what we agreed at the start of the job and the two guys who came were real professionals. They did a really neat job, tidied up a big mess from the previous homeowner and left the area very tidy. They even cut off several unused old cable and telephone lines that I couldn't get to.
The installation passed inspection without any issues. The inspector took off two fuse connectors, but I called Alex who came back and put them back on explaining that the three core wires have to have the fuses connected to each other so that if one fails or is turned off so all power to a socket is off for safety. Plus it's been code since 2004. It's a trivial point, but Alex came back to the site even though we passed inspection. I really appreciated that and the chat we had after.
Princeton electrical makeover will the electrical service I use and recommend.

"Dark side came out and redid some of ancient sun panels (they were hit with a roof leak, and everything corroded). Darkside sent Stan out, and he was a pleasure to work with. Afterwards they even showed us how well it looked through some nifty infrared camera. Thanks Darkside!"

"Yes They were wonderful. John and his Company are simply wonderful. They put a new electrical outlet in for me so that I could keep one of my old appliances. The two electricians were professional, well knowledgeable and caring. I felt as though I was dealing with family who knew a lot about electrical matters. I highly recommend this company."

"Shannon electric is hands down the best electric company around for the price. All switches and outlets were replaced properly. He also replaced my panel, and it is by far the neatest wiring I’ve seen. Definitely recommend, 10/10 service."

"Arrived promptly at stated time and got right to work. They installed 2 new outlets, moved telephone lines from the first to second floor, and relocated a cable for the TV. Price was fair, the work was done neatly and accurately, and they completed the work without requiring any patches or repainting of the walls. Very pleased with the results and will hire them again for future projects."

FAQs for electrical switches, outlets & fixtures install or repair projects in Philadelphia, PA

Yes, the National Electrical Code mandates GFCI protection for all outdoor outlets. These specialized outlets detect minute current imbalances that could indicate electricity flowing through water or a person rather than the intended circuit. When detected, they automatically disconnect power within milliseconds, providing crucial protection against shock hazards in moisture-prone outdoor environments.

Professional electricians complete straightforward outdoor outlet installations in one to two hours. More complex projects involving lengthy wire runs, wall penetrations, or panel modifications may require several hours to one day or more. DIY installations often take considerably longer due to the learning curve, safety precautions, and potential troubleshooting required.

While installing an outdoor outlet is technically possible for homeowners with electrical experience, it's not recommended as a DIY project. Outdoor electrical installations involve specialized knowledge of weatherproofing techniques, grounding requirements, and electrical codes. Mistakes can lead to serious safety hazards, property damage, code violations, and potential insurance complications. Professional electricians bring expertise that ensures both safety and compliance.
