"I had many people come quote me for my stairs with outlandish prices telling me that there was nothing I could do to repair the old stairs in my home. Mike came out and not only did he educate me he was able to repair my stairs quickly and for a reasonable price. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for repair or remodel."

"Excellent. Hiring Danny was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I had someone else install a 5 foot sliding glass door and it was a nightmare. Danny fixed the door for a good price. I couldn’t be happier with my new door. He also fixed the door on the side of the house and didn’t even tell me. Said it was part of the prepping process. I’m going to put in new kitchen countertops next, and you can believe me, I will be calling Danny."

"Bila returned my initial call promptly and arrived the following day to look at the work that needed to be done.  He started the job within a few days and arrived on time with an assistant.  |His price was very fair and included labor and paint.  He painted an exterior atrium wall, repainted exterior French doors that were poorly painted by another company, painted the interior wood staircase railing and an interior bathroom door.|He was very organized, covered all the floors and left everything the way he found it.|I recommend his work.|"

"Called A-1 Advantage on Sunday because our garage door spring broke and we could not open the garage.  I was given a 2 hour window of when to expect some to arrive.  They arrived early with the window, examined the problem.  Recommendations were made on the work that needed to be done with pricing.  Work was completed within an hour.  The garage door  and opener were adjusted and tested.  Technician was very professional, friendly, and didn't try to sell items that were not needed.  I thought the pricing was very fair.  I had expected to pay $300-350 just for the springs, based on information I had found on Angie's List.  I am very pleased with the whole experience with A-1 Advantage Garage Door Service.

FAQs for wood stairs and railings installation and replacement projects in Phoenix, AZ

A pro can set an attic ladder in two to four hours, including framing adjustments and finish work. Complex installs—like cutting a brand-new opening or trimming joists—land toward the high end of that window. Tackle the job yourself and plan on a full day, plus an extra pair of hands, since one mis-measurement can slow everything down.

Local building codes drive this decision. If your ceiling has a fire-rating requirement, the ladder must match it to maintain that protective barrier. A rated unit slows flame spread between the attic and living space, buying valuable evacuation time and limiting damage.

Because codes vary by city and even by neighborhood, check with the permitting office or ask your contractor before you order the ladder.

Aluminum ladders are light, rust-proof, and easy to maneuver, making them a practical choice for most households. Wood models handle higher weight loads and can match traditional trim if aesthetics top your list, but they’re heavier and need occasional upkeep.

Compare the ladder’s duty rating, your ceiling height, and how often you’ll use it. The best option is the one that balances safety, convenience, and the look you want without stretching the budget.
