"Screenmobile was great to work with. They were quick to respond, friendly and professional. Quickly re-screened a patio door and repaired several window screen hooks. So glad this service exists!"

Small jobs welcome

"This is my second time using TedWen and couldnâ t be more pleased to have a professional that I can trust. I had an exterior door installed and made fit into what would have been for a custom fit door. TedWen improvised and problem solved on the spot to safe me a significant amount of money not having to buy a custom size door. This was a tricky install that was done perfectly. I couldnâ t be happier with with the finished product."

Small jobs welcome

"our handyman installer was very customer service oriented, friendly and easy to work with. he did the whole project uninstalling and installing the microwave over-the-range appliance in less than an hour (40-45 min). I really appreciated that Mr. Handyman offered the haul-away service of the old appliance that the other home handyman services I was considering did not. overall, it was excellent--a professional and efficient home installation service. the cost was also comparable with what Home Depot was charging. I will definitely keep Mr. Handyman in mind for any upcoming home projects we may need."

"We went with 3D because of their rating on Angies list.  While the pricing is higher than other services we've tried, the work was well done, with no problems with any of the ladders or other equipment around the landscaping or house. <br /> We also had an estimate done for washing our siding.  They explained that they don't do pressure washing on vinyl siding because the pressure can force water under the siding where it can either leak into the house or possibly mold.  Instead, they only quote hand washing.  While the price quoted ($1700 for a 4 bedroom home) is high, we will likely go with it, as the last company that did use pressure washing did a terrible job, leaving jet spray trails all over the siding and not really cleaning it. <br />"

"Paul was excellent to work with-very reasonable on the cost, provided high quality work, professional, responsive. All the things you look for in a contractor but can never find! He was at our house for about 6 hours repairing drywall in what will be our baby's room and then painted all the walls plus the baseboard and doors. Was very happy with how everything turned out and plan to hire him again if we need more work done and will recommend him to others. Thanks Paul for being so great!!!"

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Pittsburgh, PA

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
