"The individual who came out to do my lead testing was very professional. He told me how long it would take and what all he was doing. I felt very comfortable with Sid walking around my house. He explained things to me about some ceiling types in detail. All I can say is I would recommend Sid to anyone needing lead testing to be done."

"It was frustrating. I bought the service because of an Angie's List promotion. When I received the package I opened it and saw what it was and set it aside. I was very busy and planned to get to it in a few days. I had to go out of town for a few days, then I had a ridiculous string of bad luck with multiple car breakdowns. I have a neuromuscular disease so everything I do is very difficult and exhausting. With so much happening, I forgot about the test kit. Then after a couple weeks I get a call from Mold Lab asking about the kit saying it was past the due back date and they were going to charge me $25 a day late fee on the pump. I was stunned! I opened the box and there was nothing inside saying it was due by a certain time. I re-read the Angie's List ad and there was nothing there either. The lady was very rude and kept interrupting me saying the same things over and over like maybe I would finally understand if she kept repeating it. I understood the first time. She wouldn't listen to understand I didn't know about the deadline but now that I was made aware of it I would do the testing that day and ship it that day. What else could I do? That wasn't good enough she had to repeat her lecture a few more times. After sending it in I was told I would receive a text when it was complete and I would receive an email with results within a few days. After a month I called and the same lady answered. She claimed to have sent an email, but didn't know the date and told me to check my junk mail folder. I checked everywhere but had no record of it. I explained I hadn't received the text either, she had no response for that. So she sent an email while we were on the phone and I received it immediately. I printed out the results but without the proper training or experience in laboratory sciences it was basically useless."

"Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories, Inc. sent a package with 2 vials and instructions for collecting the samples.  I collected the samples as instructed, completed a questionnaire, and returned the sample vials as instructed.  A week or two later they sent the analysis.  Everything went as expected.  There were no problems. <br />"

"I used Greenworks to perform two inspections. The first inspection identified issues with the home where we ultimately decided cancel the sale. The second inspection on a different home also uncovered some issues where we negotiated an allowance for repairs. We really appreciate the calm and professional demeanor in which Ryan Oxley and Jared Watkins explained this issues and the thorough report that was provided the following day. Will use again"

"Him and his son are very reliable. When it comes to mold testing, a correct sample size is necessary for proper testing. Tommy is very knowledgeable and is very good at collecting useful samples for analysis. He also takes care to meet and work with your needs instead of just gathering samples and moving on. Great company."

"This review applies to the mold and remediation division of RestoPros. We were extremely pleased with the work performed by RestoPros. They were professional and thoroughly explained the process before starting the job. After the initial work failed to remove all of the mold, RestoPros stood behind their guarantee, and they continued to clean additional areas until all areas passed the air quality testing. Mike McNatt was always cordial, responsive and accessible throughout the job."

FAQs for asbestos testing projects in Plano, TX

Asbestos appears as long, thin, or curled mineral fibers that are not visible to the naked eye under normal conditions. Homes constructed before 1989 are more likely to contain this material, so a professional inspection is essential. Because asbestos identification requires specialized techniques, having a certified inspector assess your property is the safest way to confirm its presence and protect your family’s health.

Free asbestos testing services do not exist. You can purchase testing kits online for $30 per unit, and these kits include lab fees, return shipping, consultation, sampling media, and the final results. The results from a kit are less detailed and accurate than those provided by a certified asbestos testing professional. Since collecting a sample exposes you to harmful fibers, hiring a professional is essential to ensure safety and accurate testing.

Receiving asbestos test results takes one to seven days, but different labs offer varying turnaround times. When expedited processing is arranged, the laboratory completes analysis within 24 hours; standard processing requires up to two weeks. Hiring a certified professional ensures that all samples are collected correctly and results are provided without delay, safeguarding your home throughout the process.

Home insurance doesn't often cover asbestos testing and removal. Many policies have a clause called a "pollution exclusion," which means they do not cover indoor pollutants like asbestos. However, your insurance company might cover something like asbestos siding removal costs if it is released due to things beyond your control, such as storm damage.

If a DIY project or accident in your home releases harmful fibers, you must pay for the test and removal.

Yes, you can legally inspect and remove asbestos in your house as long as it's a single-family home and not a multi-family unit. However, the EPA strongly recommends hiring an asbestos abatement pro since testing can be dangerous.

Pros have all the right tools and safety equipment, and you risk breathing in the fibers by taking samples yourself. They also know how to collect samples and safely dispose of materials properly.

Asbestos encapsulation is a process that seals asbestos-containing materials with a protective barrier to prevent the release of harmful fibers. It serves as an alternative to complete removal when full abatement is not necessary. Encapsulation costs between $2 and $6 per square foot, offering a cost-effective option that contains asbestos safely when applied by a certified professional.
