"Hire at your own risk. I had to fire their first crew and their second. Quality of work does not exist with them. I was taken advantage of as a woman with the subpar crew, and when I fired the first crew and held them accountable they began to treat me terribly. When spending a large amount of money for a bathroom and kitchen reno and other small jobs, higher expectations and customer service and quality of work should be received."

I would like to introduce myself as Leonel Gonzalez, with 7 years of experience in the construction industry. I’ve worked in remodeling of courthouses in Texas which consisted of carpentry such as installing baseboards, cabinets, window trims, custom doors and other furniture. Therefore I also have experience in paint and stain jobs. \nConsidering my self a responsible, honest, and respectful person towards others everything I do is to provide for my family.

"I had RG’s Construction handle the tiling for my fireplace floor and the surrounding wall, and the entire experience was outstanding from start to finish. The craftsmanship is excellent—clean lines, precise cuts, and a finished product that looks intentional and elevated, not rushed or sloppy. What really stood out was the attention to detail. They took the time to ensure everything was level, properly aligned, and finished correctly, especially around the edges and transitions, which is where a lot of contractors cut corners. They also kept the workspace clean and treated my home with care throughout the process. Communication was clear, timelines were respected, and there were no surprises. It’s refreshing to work with a contractor who actually does what they say they’re going to do—and does it well. I’m extremely happy with the results and wouldn’t hesitate to use RG’s Construction again or recommend them to anyone looking for quality tile work and professional service."

Customers say: True professional

"Unfortunately, we would not recommend. This summer we asked this company to build a gravel ring around our fire pit. They charged us $1,500 and we were so excited how it turned out. Until we learned they skipped the most important step of putting down a weed barrier. Now we have to spray Round Up chemicals on it every other week and we have lost the battle of keeping the grass from coming up. You can’t tell in the pictures but the entire pit is covered with hay like dead grass. When we reached out they refused to come out and correct it. They took a major shortcut and we paid $1,500 for it. Here’s how it looked when they left versus what it looks like constantly. They really ruined our project that we’d been saving for. Truly a disappointment."

FAQs for carpentry framing installation projects in Plano, TX

Both steel and wood can last over 100 years with proper care. However, wood could rot or warp when exposed to moisture, whereas galvanized steel is rotproof, insect-proof, and much more fire-resistant. Steel is friendlier to the environment as it doesn’t require cutting down trees, and the frame can be recycled. The energy-efficiency rating of metal stud framing can be higher than conventional wood construction. Metal studs are easier and quicker to install.

Whether you’re using wood or metal stud framing, follow the “16 on center” rule, meaning you should have a stud every 16 inches. A 20-foot wall spans a total of 320 inches. This works out to 20 spans of 16 inches, plus one starting stud, for a total requirement of 21 studs to frame a 20-foot wall.

Drywall installation costs $1.15 to $2 per square foot on metal stud framing or $2,300 for an average 2,000-square-foot house. The total cost for metal framing and drywall ranges from $20 to $30 per linear foot. Metal frames often seem light, but they can be exceptionally strong once drywall or sheathing is attached.
