"Demetrio is awesome and will do business with him again. I had a tree hit my house, which required me to replace the electric panel and meter base, and install mast above the roof to get it up to code before Oncor would connect service back up. He came out, surveyed the situation and gave me an estimate on site, that was fair with no surprises. He started on a Saturday morning and worked 12 hours to remove the old panel, install new panel and meter base outside the house due to it's age and situation, and connected up to all the old wiring in the house. He installed a mast above the roof (the old meter was installed just below the roof with main service installed right above the meter, again not up to code.) and he sealed every thing great. He treated my house just like he would treat his own house. He handled the permit, scheduling on time with Oncor and both inspections by the City of Wylie that had to happen. All this took place in less than a week. He cleaned up the entire area, and even with significant cuts needed to sheetrock, put it all back in place ready to be repaired by another contractor. Great service, great local people."

"I have known Edward Methvin for over 20 years as both a customer to me as well as me being a customer to him. I have always been extremely impressed with his trouble-shooting skills and his extremely common-sense logical approach to problem solving. He is highly experienced and knowledgeable with electrical wiring systems, solar power systems, and industrial automation control systems. And in recent years, he is my “main go to guy” for any situation involving electrical or automation control systems."

"Excellent customer service. Very professional and took time to explain what was required and also why. I feel that Rusty went above and beyond as he pointed things that were not correct in my electrical panel and corrected these issues. For those of you that may feel the the price is high. I recommend you compare pricing to other electrical service companies. Make sure you compare apples to apples and include warranties. I did and found that Mr. Electric is a winner!"

"David was punctual, professional and did whatever necessary to resolve our electrical issues. He was sent the same day of discovering an oven wire wasn't 'hot' with new oven installation. He was able to properly diagnose and fix the faulty breaker for our oven wiring and an outlet issue that the first guy could not figure out. We will only use David going forward!"

"Called about replacing electrical panel, Paul showed up and after inspecting the panel said that we did not need a new pane and did not charge anything for that visit. After explaining a couple electrical problems with plugs that 3 other electricians said they fixed and problems came back after they left. Paul had another one of his technicians come to the house a couple days later and do a complete system check and discovered that one circuit was wired incorrectly. He fixed the wiring and now everything works perfectly. Highly recommend HR Phoenix Electrical Services."

"Paul was upfront with all of the work that they were going to do. He communicated very welll and the employee's are dry knowledgeable. They replaced the electrical panel and informed me what I need to do before they could start. All the work went as they said it would. I will use them in the future."

"This company did an amazing job upgrading our old 1966 electrical panel with a new panel and emergency shut off. We now have peace of mind that our system is safe and ready to go for years ahead. They were professional, personable, clean, timely and efficient. They took care of all permit and inspection tasks as well. We had power on same day. I will use this company again and have recommended to friends are family who use them as well. "

"Chris was a great service man. After a thorough inspection of my power panel, Chris found the problem of power surges and recommended I call ONCOR to fix the service to the house. One phase had burned through the rubber boot. ONCOR promptly came and reconnected the power properly."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Plano, TX

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
