"We hired Dennis to repair our brick steps at the entrance of our home, as well as repair our retaining wall. Our home was built in 1998. Over the past year, the brick began chipping and popping off. Dennis did a great job with the repairs, actually replacing the majority of three out of five steps. He completed the job in the time frame quoted and at a reasonable price. We are very pleased with the work he did."

"I think there work is good. I will not know for sure for a while I guess. The only problem is it took weeks for them to complete the job. In fairness, it did rain a more than normal amount during those weeks, but there were days of dry weather when I wondered why they don't come and do this small job. I wish them the best and everyone I talked to was professional, but I got frustrated."

"I hate writing reviews, as everybody and his dog seems to think they are the greatest thing since grits for promoting their business. But, you need to know about these guys before you pour concrete. Calera, Alabama does not allow you to park on the street in front of your house. Two parking spaces + three vehicles = problem. After hiring this company, problem solved! From the initial contact to the final product, these guys are the ultimate professionals. In addition to some of the best-looking concrete work I have seen, they hauled off a tree stump and even moved my mailbox! The quality of work was fantastic. They drilled holes in the existing concrete pad to install large steel bars to reinforce the joint between old and new. They did a proper job of using reinforcing mesh to strengthen the concrete they were pouring and used a stronger concrete that what was already poured. The finish work is immaculate! They even formed a small curbing at the end of the driveway to give a smoother transition between driveway, yard and street and paid special attention to providing proper drainage for the yard. The difference between adequacy and artistry is in the attention to detail of your product, be it a service or pouring concrete. Anybody with a wheelbarrow and a shovel can pour concrete. It takes a professional to make sure it will do the job. It takes an artist to make a simple concrete parking pad a work of art. These guys definitely fit into the "Artist" category. Support your local artists!"

"Phillip Madden's lead man Mark and his crew installed downspout drains from my gutter downspouts using heavy 4 inch PVC pipe and ran these underground, some out to the front street gutter, and others back to a drainage ditch behind my property. They did a very neat job of laying back the sod and the soil onto black plastic, then putting the pipe in and replacing the soil and the sod such that you can't even see where this was done ! I have never seen such neat work as this crew did ! They even painted the exposed parts that attach to the downspouts to match with paint and brush that I supplied. They were on time and all worked very hard always trying their best to do a very neat job. Phillip sent Mark and his crew back later to put in a french drain on the outside of my back fence to catch water coming from other property's uphill. I have never seen such a professional job as this crew did under the direction of Mark , their lead man. They covered this french drain with river pebbles, which is very attractive and will do a good job of catching the water before it comes into my yard. I am now ready to have my rotted back fence replaced ! Thank you Phillip Madden, Mark and crew for a great professional job !"

"We were very happy with the work performed by Garza.  They are extremely professional and very hardworking craftsmen.  They stated the work would take two days and they were true to their promise.  They even power washed the drive way as an added bonus, which was very nice of them to do.
We at first were worried the mortar would not match the existing, and Garza offered to re-point all the other brick joints at no additional cost.  However, after a couple days, the mortar cured and turned the correct color.
Overall, we were very happy and would definitely use Garza Masonry again!

"Javier was very professional and ensures that customer is pleased with finished product! He or his crew were always on time and very respectful of the customer and the property! Some days I could not be present, so I trusted Javier at property alone and he ensured that he and his crew would take care of things and I had no problems! I have already scheduled more work with Javier!??"

"MARCOS concrete did a wonderful job, extending my backyard, concrete patio. I am pleased with the work they have done so far therefore they will be doing other job tasks for me such as laying carpet tile and putting up a gazebo. As well as a outdoor shed upon finishing those task, I will write another review, but as far as me, I would recommend this company"

FAQs for brick or stone siding: repair or partially replace projects in Pleasant Grove, AL

Stone veneer isn’t a weekend DIY. Even lightweight faux panels are heavy and must be anchored, flashed, and sealed to keep water out. Missteps can lead to cracked stone, leaks, or injuries. A licensed siding contractor arrives with scaffolding, masonry tools, and the know-how to set each piece safely and neatly, giving you a long-lasting, professional finish.

Stone veneer durability is robust when expert installation and proper maintenance are employed. When installed with precision, regularly cleaned, and sealed as required, stone veneer maintains its integrity for 25 to 75 years. Inadequate installation, however, leads to water intrusion and structural issues that compromise its longevity. Consistent upkeep and adherence to quality installation standards ensure decades of reliable performance.

Covering the entire exterior of a home with stone veneer is feasible but comes with a significant cost increase. Full coverage escalates both material and labor expenses due to the additional square footage required. Many homeowners reduce costs by applying stone veneer selectively—such as around entries, foundations, or architectural accents—while still achieving an upscale appearance and enhancing overall curb appeal.

Installing stone veneer over brick or stucco is entirely possible when the underlying surface is stable and properly prepared. The substrate must be clean, dry, and free of any loose material to support a secure application. Additionally, any areas of flaking stucco or deteriorated mortar must be patched and allowed to cure fully before a professional applies the new veneer, ensuring lasting durability.

Stone veneer siding offers a substantial cost advantage compared to full-thickness natural stone. It costs 25% of the price of natural stone because it is manufactured from concrete and lightweight aggregates. This method delivers the genuine appearance of stone while featuring a thinner profile that simplifies shipping, accelerates installation, and consistently reduces material expenses.

For a 250 square foot exterior area, stone siding installation costs range from $9,800 to $18,000, while installing stone veneer costs between $5,000 and $6,000. This clear cost breakdown demonstrates the significant savings achieved with stone veneer, which uses a lighter construction method that minimizes both material and labor expenses. Homeowners benefit from these lower costs while still attaining the attractive look of natural stone.
