"Ted stopped by initially to fix a broken spring. He did a quick inspection and showed me some frayed cables which looked really bad and needed to be fixed. After completion, he also noticed a broken hinge and also noticed that the garage door opener needed adjustment. He replaced the hinge and had to come back the next day ( needed a part) to adjust the opener. I was not charged for the hinge or the opener adjustment. Did a great job and I would recommend him. Thanks very much Ted."
Wood garage door at least 50 years old.
Older wooden garage door, probably installed in the 70's. The facing has begun to decay and previous attempts to repair the panels with wood putty have chipped out from weathering.
Brand new thermal insulated North Central garage door in almond with a colonial window section!
Brand new North Central thermal insulated door. Looks great and runs smooth, meaning less wear and tear on the opener.

Much warmer too!

"We had our garage door spring break on a Friday. American Home Shield couldn't get anyone to come out before the following week, so we inquired as to which Garage Door Companies would fix it as emergency, since my wife has medical conditions and needs to be able to travel. Of the two Garage Door Companies that are available 24 hours, A1 Garage Door Service LLC was the only one that could be there same evening. They got to our home to fix the broken spring so we could open the Garage around 8:00 pm."

"I highly recommend Farmhouse Garage doors. Our job consisted of installing a new garage door on the third stall of a three stall garage and installing a new garage door opener. The older garage door opener was moved to the new door and a newer one was installed in the main door. The estimate process was quick, a couple of adjustments were made with no issues, a few rusty, worn out parts were replaced in the main door from serviceable parts from the old third stall door. The price was very reasonable, the work was done quickly and efficiently, everything was smooth and done to our satisfaction. Again, I highly recommend this company."

FAQs for garage door opener installation and replacement projects in Plymouth, MN

A chain-drive opener costs less, but it’s louder and needs more upkeep. If your budget allows, a belt-drive model is often the smarter long-term buy, especially for an attached garage with a bedroom above where noise matters. The decision between a chain or belt opener comes down to your budget and needs, and your garage door opener installer can help you choose an option that best suits you.

Choosing the right horsepower for your garage door opener is crucial for safe and efficient performance. Your garage door’s design and material determine the required horsepower. A single-car garage demands a half horsepower rating, while a two-car garage requires a rating between three-fourths and 1.25 horsepower. Selecting the proper power level ensures optimum performance and durability over the life of the opener.

Plan on a quick garage door tune-up once or twice a year. Tighten the chain or belt, lubricate moving parts, test the safety sensors, and swap out weak batteries in the remotes or backup unit. A few dollars in lubricant and 30 minutes of work can fend off costly repairs, keep the door running smoothly, and help the opener hit its full life expectancy.
