"Kevin is a professional to be admired for his thoroughness. I live in NYC and needed Kevin to meet me at my vacation home in the Poconos at a specific date and time (I'm a 2 1/2 hour drive away). He arrived on time and quickly determined why my gas fireplace was inoperative. Unlike some plumbers who would then tell me that they needed to pick up a replacement part at a distant supply store and wouldn't be able to return until the next day, Kevin had a well-stocked inventory of parts in his van, including the precise replacement pilot assembly my fireplace needed. What a time-saver that turned out to be! Throughout the replacement process Kevin informed me what he was doing and why. His easy-going manner helped make the repair process "painless" and my fireplace hasn't worked this well in years. I would use Kevin Caparo again without hesitation for any future heating problems I might have and I heartily suggest you do too!"

"The removal could not have been more professionally done. They started when they said they would and finished in just about 3 hours with no problems or disruptions to our day. And cost was very reasonable. Sal also recommended the companies I used to replace my oil burner and remove some asbestos both of which were very well done and at very good prices."

"I?ve had them since I moved in here for my air conditioning and heating system. I?ve been here for 2 ? years. The only problem was them diagnosing the exact problem, it took them 4 or 5 times that they came out before they figured out what was wrong. I have a contract with them, so it basically didn?t cost me anything even if they came 10 times. They came right away and they were concerned about trying to figure out what was wrong. It was an intermittent problem, so that was the reason they couldn?t figure it out completely. With the service contract, it didn?t really cost me anything more."

"The roofing repair went well, and then I asked Mr. Evans to come to another city where I owned another home that we were remodeling and needed to sell soon. We needed some electrical ,and plumbing work done . I asked if he was licensed to do that. He replied that " he was". I inquired about city permits, and was told that "I did NOT need any- as this was a minor repair, not a complete rewiring job". Having dealt with the city before, I KNEW that was not right, as permits ARE required for ALL work done by contractors in the city. I then asked him if he was registered with our state. He replied that he was. I checked online, and found nothing under the company name of American Contracting. I DID find his name under another company name- J.E. Improvements. However, this registration did NOT list electrical, or plumbing. When I told him what I had learned- he said that he would simply call the state and ask them to add the two categories to his listing ! I was amazed that they would do such a thing over the phone, and called them myself. I was told that "anyone who is registered can call and add anything without submitting any proof of additional licenses". They told me I needed to check with my local city for licensing. I called the Scranton office of licensing and permits, and was told that " Mr. Evans is NOT licensed as either a plumber or electrican in Scranton". He had also told me that he installs and maintains furnaces and heating systems. He is not licensed to do that either in Scranton. He CAN do roofing and siding as that only requires a contractor to pull a permit, and he can get one since he is already registered with the state of PA. There were a couple other things that bothered me. First, he kept saying that he "preferred to be left alone when he worked" and that "we could just leave a key to the house and did not need to be there while the work was being done". Also, I had asked for estimates on painting and a new roof and possibly siding and was told that he "did not write estimates until the customer agreed verbally to a price, because it was a waste of time because some people didn't call him back". Upon checking, I found that he registered his company name as J.E. Improvements with the state on 7/23/2009, yet he did a job for someone on Angie's list in SEPT. 2009 under the name American Contracting. Under Pa. law , doing jobs under two or more company names MUST be reported to the state. I asked the state if they had any listing for American Contracting- they said "NO". Bottom line is this : Mr. Evans is a nice man, did a good job on our roof repair, but if you want him to work in Scranton, be aware that he is NOT licensed for electrical, plumbing or heating, and can NOT pull permits for that work. He CAN do roofing, siding and painting as I am told. permits can be obtained for those jobs as long as he can show his PA registration card and current insurance of $50,000 or more."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Pocono Lake, PA

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
