"This was basically a demolition project. I had to have a 75 year old concrete circular retaining wall buried in the center of my asphalt driveway that had to be removed so that we could plant an oak tree. The wall was approximately 25 feet in circumference, 4 feet high and the concrete at least 3 inches thick. The bottom foot and half of the wall was covered with earth that had to be dug out by hand. Jose accomplished this extremely difficult job in a day and a half working right along side his helpers. He was able break up and haul away the concrete and did a great job cleaning up the site. He is courteous, professional and his rates are extremely fair. I would definitely recommend him for any job."

"Got three bids from local concrete people. Unique concrete was very competitive on pricing and was very good with following up. There was a small snafu when they cancelled a day before the first scheduled work day, but Ignacio explained the mix up and made sure we would be taken care of. Workday the workers showed up early. Ignacio was there to make sure all went well. Workers were polite and efficient. Cleaned up afterwards. We had one small area that needed follow up and Ignacio was very responsive and had someone over the next morning to fix it. Our project was small, and most places weren't interested or wanted ridiculous fees. Unique Concrete explained there wasn't much money to be made here but they were doing this as a courtesy to build good relations for future work or referrals. We will definitely work with them again. Ignacio was great."

"Khiem was easy to work with and provided excellent service. Gave honest feedback on where we could save money. Good planning on the sequence of tasks to be done and executed them well. Kept the worksite clean and tidy throughout the project and made sure that the driveway and the walkways were clean at the end of each day. All the members of his team were experts in different areas and took pride in their work. Paid attention to details and quickly fixed any issues or mistakes in my design. Khiem procured all the plants I requested from a good nursery. Patiently installed drip irrigation covering the entire yard including for the ground cover. The drip irrigation was all buried to be invisible. Refused to use sprinklers anywhere even if it was less work. Replanted some of the new Hydrangea bushes from where they had too much sun to a shady area."

"We were in the process of selling our condo, and we needed Paul to fix up our patio (700sf) in preparation for the sale. Paul came over, quickly checked out what was needed, and made a couple of suggestions (one was a sealing product which would make the tiles shine better for presentation). We agreed on the start date and then he started. He starts very early, and replacing some of the older or aged tiles was noisy, but ended up getting the tiles replaced within 1 day. He also fixed up some of the older and overgrown plants, replacing them with younger, nice plants which would present better in an Open House. Since the tiles needed one full day to cure, and returned 2 days later to clean. This took about 1 hour. The sealing needed to dry and cure for, again, 24 hours, and he came back 2 days later to seal the tiles with the high-gloss sealant. This was a fairly short process; it only took about 2 hours. Everything was done quickly, and Paul made sure to clean up after himself and his team. All-in-all, given the work performed, and the purpose of the work needed, Paul really came through and gave us a patio which would help complement our condo for sale. I would definitely use Paul's landscaping business again. <br />"

"I called Crow today to get an estimate for installing recessed lights in my home. I left a VM since he wasn't available saying the job was in fremont. He called back in 5 minutes to let me know he does not service that area. He sounded very professional and nice on the phone - so too bad we cant use him <br /> Points to him for being good enough to call back and let me know! <br />"

"They did a fantastic job and even came in at the best price. They came in on a Thursday and took out all the concrete with a bobcat into the trucks. They put in new beautiful pavers that look like cobblestone. We used to have drainage problems and they even did it in a way that everything drains underground into the street. They were clean, pleasant, and worked very hard. We are thrilled with the end result and have had a lot of compliments. We will continue to highly recommend them to anyone."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Point-reyes-station, CA

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
