"Professional, efficient, and timely quality work. Well worth the money. My job was was a 28' X 21' parking pad in a sloped and difficult to reach location in front of my house. They removed the greens, installed and compacted gravel fill to level the area with a 2% slope, then installed asphalt by skip loader using hand and power tools to smooth, finishing with a vibrating roller. I got to see their skillset in it's entirety. I am pleased with the results and would recommend them for your job."

"Looked great but after one year there are areas where vitually all coating is gone. These are not high use areas or anything like that. It's just like the rain and climate have taken away the coating. Maybe this is normal and I was not aware. Expected it to last longer. <br /> The service was fast and as promised so have nothing but good to say about the service. Just expected a longer life of product. <br />"

"Jason McGee of Robinsnest Landscape Services is one of a half dozen licensed and approved contractors for septic installation in Clallam county. I sent requests for bid to a half dozen contractors in the Sequim area, 3 responded, and only Jason took the initiative to call me in response to my email. <br>Jason dug up the 2 access ports on the primary septic tank, cut the risers and installed them with Quickcrete, installed the lids with stainless hex bolts and cleaned up afterwards. He also made recommendations for cleaning and servicing the tank, and installed a filter between the primary and secondary tank to prevent solids from leaching into the drain field. <br>Jason worked hard and continuously, and came in at the price I expected. Note that it's not possible to provide an exact quote on septic riser installation, since the riser height is unknown and is priced by the foot. The primary tank proved to be a little deeper than my father remembered. <br>I would have Jason work on my landscaping or other yard needs any time. He's a hardworking young man, polite and soft spoken.  <br>"

"In retrospect I am quite happy that I took the path I did as there were several unexpected developments and/or requirements that I had asked for that were "unexecutable" during the course of construction that we were able to fix on the fly. I was very happy with Scott's attention to detail during the course of construction and his quality of work far surpassed most other residential contractors I have dealt with. One of the first challenges was trying to get a permit to do the work. It turned out that the property I purchased had a barn on it that had never had a permit issued for its construction. (Not disclosed in the seller disclosure). As a result the issuance of a permit was delayed a bit until we reached an agreement with the county that we would retroactively get a permit for the structure and do any required fixes that a structural engineer determined were necessary. I ended up having to get Scott to do some additional concrete work on the barn foundations to make the county happy and hired a separate contractor to do some of the wood structural work to keep Scott focused on getting the house completed on time. I am a retired engineer with some experience in doing construction projects. Scott would be the first to tell you that I am a somewhat uncompromising taskmaster and I really appreciated the fact that Scott would push back based on his extensive experience in what works in home construction. We made several adjustments to the layout of the home as we went along and we had a good give and take on what I was adding vs items that were abandoned for a credit and the overall cost impact. The only issue I had with our project centered on critical path planning. For those not familiar with large projects this is the planning that determines what work that needs to be done today (eg: material ordering) to ensure that the work we are going to be doing in the next several weeks goes smoothly. This improved as we got through the project and at the end we ended up getting it done in the agreed time frame (excluding the delay in getting the permit at the outset of the project). I would certainly recommend Scott to anyone looking for a quality contractor to do either a renovation or construction project."

"They have been wonderful. We are holding off building our new home until later this year but we will definitely use them to build the home. They have been very polite and understanding; not harassing us or anything. They keep in touch periodically but are not pushing us. They have been very helpful and I will use them again in the future.  "

"A few different options were discussed before deciding on the metal siding for the fence. Matt was extremely easy to work with in exploring options and giving different pricing for all to make an informed decision. Once a plan was in place, Matt dove right in completing the project in the timeline given. His management for large projects and the ability to communicate promptly and professionally showed throughout the project. He also met with the engineer to ensure a complete understanding of the blueprints given. We are very happy with the result and definitely intend on calling him for future projects. Quality is a top priority for Matt and this is what you will get should you hire him for any projects."

"We are tenants in a rental home with an 18-year-old gas furnace. The furnace quit working in Feb 2022 and at that time another heating company was called by the property management company to evaluate. That company recommended the furnace be replaced and the owners chose not to do that. So, when the furnace quit working again on Dec 5th, the property management company called Beacon Heating to evaluate the situation. Thus, we were so blessed that Ian and Josh, technicians from Beacon Heating, came to our rental home to evaluate the situation around 11 AM on Wed Dec 7th. Ian contacted the property management company with detailed information and recommendations. The property management company contacted the owner but did not hear back from the owner until late in the afternoon. Once the property management company got back with Ian about what was approved by the owner, Ian and Josh ordered the parts, drove to pick up the parts in Kirkland and got back to our home around 6 PM. They were masters in replacing the two parts needed to get our furnace working again in less than 30 minutes! During those two service visits, they were always professional, explained what they found and what they were doing. Then, today I had some questions about the furnace. I called and left a message for Ian and he called me back immediately. He answered my questions clearly, patiently and expertly. In summary, Ian and Josh are over the top skilled, knowledgeable, honest and direct about their services and recommendations. My husband and I highly recommend Ian's and Josh's five start services to homeowners and tenants."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Port Angeles, WA

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
