"Had been waiting several months for the part to come in. No fault of his at all. He stayed in contact with me the whole time letting me know that it was still on backorder. As soon as it came in he contacted me to get it installed. He came out after I got off work to get the circuit board replaced. It works great! I don't have to babysit my washer for every load to finish before it would just restart if I didn't get to it in time. Definitely will use again in the future for any appliance repairs."

"They sent out Victor. He is a nice guy. We have dealt with him a couple of times before. He brought the parts with him, and had the seal fixed in under an hour. The price was reasonable, and thanks to the good people at My Appliance Repair Houston the whole experience was very painless. This is a great company, and great service companies are hard to find. If you have a broken appliance in the Houston area you should give them a call."

"My experience with him was pretty good.  He showed up on time.  I think he did the best he could with the refrigerator that was provided.  He fixed it for the time being.  I found that he was perfectly professional.  I don't know necessarily if he went above and beyond but he fixed the refrigerator which is what we really asked for.  He checked another appliance that I asked and that was about it.  He was efficient and got the job done.  He communicated thoroughly which was important to me.  They communicated and made sure what I needed ahead of time when they were coming.  They gave me the thirty minute window that they promised, call wise which some don't.  Their price was about typical."

"I am satisfied that it turned out to be nothing really wrong with my over.   However I mentioned to the repairman at the start that the oven light was out, too, and he waited until the end, when I told him, again, (that the light was out) to tell me to take out the old bulb myself and go buy one at Walmart or some place like that.  Being elderly and having back problems, I wanted him to take the old bulb out and tell me how to put the glass bulb cover with the wire bracket holder back on once the new bulb was put in, especially since he didn't want to do it, himself.  (Maybe, he didn't have a replacement bulb with him but he surely could have taken my old one out for me and told me how to replace it, myself.)  I don't know, maybe, it was not something they do on these service calls, especially since he did get to make any money off of me.   He showed me how to take off the oven door.  I guess that was his way of saying that was all he was going to do.  Anyway, I bought a replacement bulb and got my son to put it in for me today.  I am satisfied that he didn't tell me something was wrong with my oven when there really wasn't but I wouldn't have any confidence in him if I ever had to deal with him, in particular, again.  As I said, earlier, though, the scheduler was really nice.

FAQs for appliance (microwave oven) installation and replacement projects in Port Bolivar, TX

A pro can finish the job in one to three hours. Countertop models are the quickest, but built-in, drawer, and over-the-range units take longer because the installer may need to run a new outlet, modify cabinets, or add venting. Any add-ons can push the timeline closer to the three-hour mark. Hiring a licensed installer ensures the wiring is safe and the appliance operates at peak performance.

Because an over-the-range microwave doubles as a range hood, it needs proper venting. You can opt for a recirculating model that filters and recirculates air back into the kitchen, or a ducted unit that exhausts outdoors. Are you unsure which route suits your cooking style? Ask your installer for guidance before making a purchase.

Only microwaves labeled “over-the-range” have the built-in venting and lighting that’s necessary for safe, code-compliant use above a stove. Countertop models don’t have those safeguards. Before you swipe your card, have a licensed microwave installer confirm you’re choosing the right unit for the space and ensure compliance with local codes.

It’s best not to install a countertop microwave in your cabinets. Countertop models aren’t designed for use in an enclosed cabinet, and blocking those vents can trap moisture or even create a fire hazard. A built-in or drawer microwave is designed for tight spaces. Run your plans by an installer to make sure you’re buying the right style for the spot.

You don’t need an electrician if the outlet already meets the microwave’s power needs and sits in the right spot. In that case, you’re good to go ahead with the installation. If the outlet is undersized, outdated, or too far away, hire a licensed electrician to install a new one and ensure everything is code-compliant.

With routine care, most microwaves last between five and 10 years. To help them reach their maximum lifespan, wipe up spills immediately, wash the grease filter periodically, avoid using metal dishware, and close the door gently. Those simple habits reduce malfunctions and keep the appliance running smoothly for the long haul.
