"This was a major project that took about one month to complete - much faster than most contractors. Jose always made good suggestions and often saved us money by repairing/painting instead of replacing. The job was started early and finished in less time than we expected. Sandra handled the contracts and financial arrangements. Both Jose and Sandra were very responsive and professional. We highly recommend J.Y.Handyman!"

"This is the second room in our home that we have used Remodeling Max to install the new flooring and window coverings in a room we were updating. The crews are very professional and knowledgeable. They arrive on time and answer all your questions and if there is an issue, they work to resolve it immediately. I would recommend this company to anyone who is looking to renovate, update or build new."

"Mark Gonzalez did a wonderful job on our daughter’s house. We called him and he came out and gave us a quote. Scheduling was an issue and we chose to wait for him to be available. We are glad we did. He did what he agreed to do and then some. An example is in order. The task was to repair sheetrock in several areas throughout the house. Those areas were enumerated and discussed. During the course of the job, he saw other areas that needed repair and fixed those too. He did not make a big deal of it. He just did it. He is also an artist. For example, we were supposed to provide the paint. He requested that he be allowed to get the paint which was great for us. He took samples and went to Sherwin Williams. When he got back with the matched paint, he was not satisfied (looked good to us). He took the paint back and had it redone. To us, it looked good the first time and perfect the second time. His rates are extremely reasonable and does a superb job. Scheduling may be an issue so we suggest to allow sufficient time for him to get to your project. You will be really glad you did."

"Narciso Rosales is an amazing contractor. This was a large project in a 1905 house. His years of experience allowed him to bring in various professionals as needed. They were extremely professional. Work was done on time and inspection went smoothly. Narciso listened to me and thanks to him I have my dream kitchen. I cannot recommend him highly enough. This is our 7th project together. I won't use anyone else!"

"We had our traditional white rails taken out, banister replaced.  Dubs, the front man, is very knowledgeable and friendly.  The work crew is VERY GOOD.  Edson and Daniel (brothers) come in and get to work (could be because they have jobs going all over Houston).  This was a one week job....demo one day, banister molding another day, sanding and patching another day.  A few times they were here for an hour --- 'banister day', someone was here all day.  When the guys left for the day, they cleaned up first.
My husband and I keep walking through the entry hall just to admire our new stairway.  Our house is 25 years old, well kept, fairly well updated.  This new stairway makes us feel so hip and very up-to-date!  :)  We are happy, happy with the work....I have already sent an informative email to 3-4 friends who want this work done --- one is making a call today."

FAQs for wood stairs and railings installation and replacement projects in Port Bolivar, TX

A pro can set an attic ladder in two to four hours, including framing adjustments and finish work. Complex installs—like cutting a brand-new opening or trimming joists—land toward the high end of that window. Tackle the job yourself and plan on a full day, plus an extra pair of hands, since one mis-measurement can slow everything down.

Local building codes drive this decision. If your ceiling has a fire-rating requirement, the ladder must match it to maintain that protective barrier. A rated unit slows flame spread between the attic and living space, buying valuable evacuation time and limiting damage.

Because codes vary by city and even by neighborhood, check with the permitting office or ask your contractor before you order the ladder.

Aluminum ladders are light, rust-proof, and easy to maneuver, making them a practical choice for most households. Wood models handle higher weight loads and can match traditional trim if aesthetics top your list, but they’re heavier and need occasional upkeep.

Compare the ladder’s duty rating, your ceiling height, and how often you’ll use it. The best option is the one that balances safety, convenience, and the look you want without stretching the budget.
