"In 2017, the water table under our house increased. Our finished basement flooded. I contacted several places, most were unresponsive or had a big sales pitches but couldn't get to it for months. Then Absolutely Dry Basement and Waterproofing called back. They told me what needed to be done and I said go. They put in new drain tile throughout the basement and a sump pump. The price was reasonable. I waited for big rains before posting this review. We had several this year and my basement is absolutely dry. Outstanding company."

"If you have an emergency do not call this company. Contacted in September, consultant came first of Octoberand down payment for work was made. Mid- January and only half the job done. While Adao Natario was an excellent professional and did a great job sealing up the wall cracks in the basement,my disappointment with the Company in general is emense. Adao listened to my concerns and I’ll wait to see if the Company responds with appropriate work on the sump pump and discharge issue if they ever show up. Meanwhile, I am surrounded by water in the yard and just hope the sump pump in basement keeps working. Price below reflect only crack repair."

"The job went very well. When we contacted the company initially, a representative came to our house and explained what was needed, how the problem would be addressed, and answered all our questions. On the day of the job, the workers who came were polite and professional, worked hard and finished in a timely fashion, and cleaned the worksite so thoroughly that, except for the new concrete poured, you wouldn't have known they were there. We can't recommend this company and its employees highly enough."

"This spring I encountered water problems in the basement. Part of the cause was water building up in the driveway right in front of the garage door after a heavy rain. To solve this, a drain was installed outdoors near the lowest point of the concrete drive. Water flows into the drain and through a tube that is buried in the front yard and exits near the front of the property on the other side of the yard. I have noticed a couple of issues with this design. <br /> First, during heavy rains (which we did have a time or two after the installation), the water pools between my and my neighbors yard. I believe it is far enough away from the houses to not cause problems, but this still concerns me. I called back and their solution was to put a big rock at the end of the pipe to divert the water flow. Now I have to remember it is there, and try not to hit it when mowing. <br /> Second, as the water flows into the drain, sometime the flow is restricted by seeds (hellicopters) and pine needles that have fallen off of nearby trees. The drain clogs unless I am constatnly removing the obstructions. <br /> Otherwise, the work was done very efficiently, on time, and professionally. <br />"

"Price was very reasonable. Product came in at date expected. Crew was very friendly and cleaned up everything. We had some weather issues on first install date, so crew did what they could and came back on a weekend day to finish the job. <br />"

"The construction workers tore up old concrete at the end of my driveway and replaced it with new concrete at a different lower angle so my car wouldn't drag on it.  They replaced 3 sheets of sidewalk and the curb.  These workers have done other jobs at my house under the owner's supervision.  I have always found everyone to be courteous.  Concrete work is weather dependent. The previous owner refused to overbook and have too many projects going at once.  His crew completed the jobs though sometimes end dates were extended.  I consider it professional when a company like Behncke Construction refuses to rush a job and thus lower the quality. <br />"

"They installed 5 plates against the wall and attached them to the other side of the driveway where they drilled down. It pulled the wall back up and all is secure and lifetime warranty that is transferable. Happy with results."

"It went very well.  Contractor communicated when he would arrive on a daily basis.  He arrived when he said he would.  He stayed on the job until completed, it was a big job, with the exception of one morning, but that was communicated and agreed to by us in advance.  We asked lots of questions, had spots we wanted touched during and at the end of the job and the contractor was always very willing to do what we wanted done.  There is no doubt about his desire for us to be happy at the end of the job.  No bickering, no withholding payment, nothing like that at all.  We wanted something done it was done.  All within the agreed to price prior to the commencement of the job.  The contractor and his employee were friendly, reliable and workers, no lollygagging on the job.  They were careful to protect our carpeting and woodwork.  All in all a good experience for us. <br />"

"Water line installation was going behind a dish washer, so wanted something more heat <br /> resistant than plastic. Got my moneys worth and then some, even though <br /> I'm not sure what it costs yet. Technician took out a previous pierce <br /> valve and water line combo, installed a copper line to replace it. <br /> Hooked our refrigerator up... and fixed an unknown possible issue with <br /> our dishwasher drain. Very good!! <br /> Very professional! <br /> Timely!! We had our fridge one day... the day I called for a plumber. He was out the next morning to do the work! <br />"

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Port Byron, IL

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
