"Rudy Taylor is very pofessional and punctual. I had called Rudy through another review site(because of his excellent reviews) and he did the work the same evening. Rudy diagnosed the problem quickly that my valves were bad and too low in the groubd causing the sprinklers to drain back into the valve area so hr suggested making them above ground.Even though I gave him the wrong number he came to my house right on time. Rudy brought an assistant to speed up the work who is just ad experienced as rudy. The work took about 4 hours because of the amount if digging and piping that needed to be done. That dame day I had my sprinklers fixed and up and running. I am very happy with the completed job and plan to hire rudy again anytime I have sprinkler problems. <br />"

"<p> </p> <p>I went into the Four Seasons Landscape Materials office in Penn Valley California at 11:30 am and spoke to the gentleman behind the counter about what I was trying to accomplish.  He directed me to the samples and suggested the ¾ inch drainage rock.  We figured I needed 6 cubic yards and I paid and asked how soon they could have it delivered.  He stated they could have it out to my place by 1:00 pm.   I drove the 20 minute drive home and waited.  At 12:30 pm the driver arrived, in 60 minutes after my visit I had 6 cubic yards of rock delivered!  The truck driver even dumped the load in two different spots on my property.    I was amazed on their willingness to help and the speed of the service.  I will definitely use them again for all of my landscaping material needs.</p> <p> </p> <br />"

"He cleaned up everything. They covered everything when they painted. They were very efficient. They came in did their work and they were gone. He is very knowledgeable about everything. He was able to explain to us which plants/bushes would be best for our area. His crew knows what they are doing."

"They are great. Their pricing is good. Their personal service is excellent. They ship a lot of things free and comes the next day. I ordered my last order and it didn't come. I called and talked to the owner and he sent it to me for free because for some reason it did not get processed. I got it the next day as well. They are very nice. They have a great selection of tiles. They are definentially economically priced compared to other suppliers."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Porterville, CA

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
