He not only re-cleaned our flue that had just been done but installed a new flue into our badly constructed chimney. Even after having to cut into our chimney 2x to get the flue to fit he stuck to his original quote. Bob (and both of his crew) were extremely professional and the kind of company you don't find too often. DON"T hesitate to call him."

"I originally called Paul to have him inspect/service our existing fireplace. He was punctual and very knowledgable and gave us some much needed information on how the system works and answered a bunch of questions for us. We then decided it might be nice to upgrade our system to something more modern (i.e. get rid of the gold trimmed glass and get a system with a remote). He recommended an awesome place for us to go to where we had an equally great experience. After the system came in, Paul picked it up for us and brought it with him for the install. I called for an estimate and made an appointment for 9:00 am on Saturday, Nov. 15.  John showed up about 8:15 with his 2 young workers who checked the chimney in the basement and then went on the roof.  The chimney had some missing bricks but other than that, needed nothing... the liner was in fine condition.  John told me they could do the job immediately for $785.  I said, how about $750 and he said ok.  They were there for about 40 minutes, re-cemented the missing bricks and put stucco all the way around the chimney. 

I made a check out to John Christman Chimney Repair but was told I had to make it out to him directly so I had to rip up the check and make out a new one. 

I really had only wanted an estimate since I had no idea if that was a fair price but felt I was caught off-guard and agreed to have him do the job.  After he left I decided that the price seemed very high for the amount of work that was done.  I tried to stop payment on the check but it was cashed IMMEDIATELY.  The next day I called a few other chimney repair places and they told me that the price seemed high for the amount of work that was done.

I suppose the lesson learned here is ALWAYS get at least 2-3 estimates before committing to having the work done.

"Two gentlemen arrived, very courteous and professional.  I escorted one gentleman to the furnace area to investigate what would be cleaned.  I was amazed to see what I saw!  Soot (looking more like crumbled dirt and sand) nearly filled the flue; solid evidence there was a serious and potentially unsafe problem in that side of the chimney.  The other gentleman shared that he'd go to the top of the chimney to advise me of the condition.  He also took pictures on their phones so I could see the condition above.  There was no cap on the furnace chimney (I had one on the fireplace chimney).  He also looked into the fireplace chimney which I greatly appreciated.  One gentleman advised me of the cost of the repairs, I agreed to the cost, and they began working.  These gentlemen were outstanding; demonstrating great concern for the safety of my home.  I would not hesitate to use them again.
