"<p>Overall, this was a very good experience.</p> <p>We needed to have some plumbing work done in our master bathroom, so decided to have the countertop replaced at the same time.  This led to having them all done so they would be consistent throughout the house.</p> <p>We stopped at their location locally, and were met by Ashley.  She was very professional and helpful.  It was difficult to pick out a color from a small sample but she helped us make our choice.  They were cooperative in working with us to have the work done in two steps because we needed to have two countertop installed, but the third removed,  plumbing work done, then have them come back to install that countertop.  They charged us $150 for the second step, but we understood the costs involved to them so we paid it.</p> <p>They sent us a picture of the slab and it looked too pink to me.  So I went back to their location and got confirmation it was ok.  Ashley was patient and supportive.  </p> <p>Mike, the lead installer, and his helper were very efficient and timely.  If they were running late, Mike would call us.  On the second installation, he called twice to let us know what was happening.  This is so rare with installers!  He provided great service.</p> <p>There were only two items we wish were different: </p> <p>(1)  There was a 1/4 inch gap between the right side of one counter and the wall.  This was the only bathroom where the countertop had to fit between two walls.  The gap occurred because the wall was not square.   The gentleman who did the measurement must have known this when he was here, but we did not realize there was this issue until the countertop was in.   It was explained that it is in our contract that gaps are possible, but we did not figure the gap would be that large.  I think we should have been told that there was a potential issue and work with us on a potential solution.  If a solution was not possible, then at least we would know.  This is the only reason the Quality rated a B.  The material itself is great and the other two bathrooms are beautiful.</p> <p>(2)  We specifically asked for afternoon appointments, and it seemed that all we were offered were mornings.  </p> <p>Except for the one gap, the countertops look great!  We have a solution we are working on to make the gap less obvious.</p> <p><br /></p> <p><br /></p> <br />"

"The quality of my outdoor kitchen and patio exceeded my own expectations. Clint and his team did a terrific job. They started right when he said he they would and worked diligently through bad weather to complete the project promptly. The workmanship of his team was terrific. I have stamped concrete with a smoke tint that looks better than I imagined. My outdoor kitchen is the envy of my neighbors. We are really enjoying it. In addition to great work Clint is a stand up business man and a pleasure to do business with. I would recommend him to any of my family and friends."

"If you have need of a structural retaining wall (greater than 4 ft high), this review is for you. <br /> When I purchased my home 17 years ago, it had a railroad tie retaining wall holding up one side of my front yard. I knew it was something that would eventually have to be replaced. It was a neighborhood eyesore, and over the years began to bow out. For the past 8 years I have been reading up on wall design, and examining any walls under construction that I came across. I had gotten several estimates on the work a few years ago, and was shocked at the bids I received. I interviewed each of the contractors I considered, and looked at examples of their work, but was unable to get the work done due to the cost. This year I was better prepared financially, and decided to try again. I began by looking at blocks at Across the Pond, who referred me to Adam Ragland, of Ragland Topsoil and Landscaping. Adam gave me a photo book of the walls he had done previously, and took me on a lengthy tour of walls he built in the Huntsville area. I was VERY impressed. Adam's work was far more advanced than the previous contractors I had considered, and his construction technique fell right in line with the techniques I had studied and observed over the years. His bid, fell in the range of the previous bids I had received, but I was far more confident in his ability to execute the job. <br /> This wall, at 8 feet max height, required (by City of Huntsville) a civil engineer to be engaged to develop the plan and monitor the construction. Adam referred me to Bill Kennard of GEO Solutions. Bill submitted a set of engineering plans, which again met my expectations in terms of the design based on my years of research on the subject. I submitted my bulding permit request to the City of Huntsville and upon receipt of my permit, the work began. <br /> Adam Ragland does not work multiple jobs simultaneously. He brings his crew to your jobsite and they work YOUR job until they are done. Adam leads the work and is present from start to finish. This was very important to me, as it was on the basis of HIS skill that I made my decision to award the contract to his company. Another point that bears saying. Although he does not advertise this, Adam and his workers are Christian men, and conduct themselves accordingly. No profanity, no drinking, etc., and always respecful to my wife, daughter, and myself. A group of hard working men who have worked together for years and know how to do the job. They show up on time and work hard. <br /> Adam and his crew began by tearing down the old wall in a controlled manner. They then constructed the new wall in accordance with the plans provided by GEO Solutions, however, it was obvious that Adam knew how the wall was to be built based on his previous experience. The entire job including teardown and construction took 6 days, and was inspected by GEO Solutions during the construction process. The blocks used were provided by Huntsville Hardscapes, which is now a subsidiary of Across the Pond, where I originally began my inquires. These were 60 lb blocks, which are filled with gravel and tied back into the gravel backfill using a geogrid. This technique results in an integrated wall and backfill which is stable and solid. If you observed any of the overpass construction on the Parkway at Weatherly and Whitesburg a year or so ago, a similar technique was used. <br /> The overall contact for my job included resodding my front yard and the area at the base of the wall. Adam delivered a truckload of beautiful topsoil, but installation of the sod was delayed due to rain and inability to cut the sod at the sod farm. I have taken advantage of the delay by installing a sprinkler system in my front yard myself, something I have done before. I am looking forward to getting the sod down and finishing this project. <br /> So if you are in need of a retaining wall contractor for an engineered wall ( or landscaping for that matter), I heartily recommend Ragland Topsoil and Landscaping and also give a hearty THANK YOU to Trevor at Across the Pond for referring me to Adam Ragland. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"I had a bad roof leak that got worse fast and called Cobalt because they are near my house.  I got immediate response from Sherrie who called one of her crews off another job to install my tarps the same day before we had a bad storm front move in.  A week or so later I had a new roof and flashing around my chimney installed.  I had gone out for estimates to some other roofers but went with Cobalt due to the immediate and friendly personal service  I would not hesitate to use them again or to recommend to my neighbors and friends.  <br />"

"<p>The work was done in 3 installments over 2-3 months and the quality was very good. Great service. We are very happy with the results.</p> <p>Communication and scheduling could be improved - we talked to one person and another person would do the scheduling and sometimes details and information would get lost due to miscommunication. The crew might show up on a day we weren't expecting them; but we understand that in this business some jobs need to be juggled and moved to a different day because of the weather.</p> <p>A bit on the pricey side, but we appreciate that they accepted the job. Our house is on a steep hill and just getting the materials up our driveway was a challenge.</p> <p><br /></p> <br />"

"Had a little problem connecting with Flo initially to get a quote. Once we finally met and he came out to give me an estimate, things went very well. <br /> He and his crew did a great job. Flo was meticulous about getting the details right. We had a slight misunderstanding on the contract phases (I thought final payment due when entire job completed, forms removed, etc, whereas he meant when the concrete was poured). I withheld $500 until final job completion and he didn't have, presumably, all to much heartburn with that. <br /> He returned on the promise date and completed the entire job per our written agreement. <br /> I would not hesitate to use their services again. Very professional and conscientious about the work. Great work ethic. <br />"

"Enterprise showed up when expected and contacts Wayne and Eric were quick to return calls and answer any questions I had. <br /> The demo guys did their best to keep the dust from spreading (a nearly impossible task, but they did pretty well). <br /> The tile layers were meticulous in their attention to detail, making sure that everything was installed properly and lined up perfectly. <br /> I would be pleased to use Enterprise again. <br />"

"I travel a great deal with my work, and was out of town the week that the job started. I left a check for the 40% payment with my father and asked him to give it to Mark when he arrived. The project started on Monday, May 10, as planned. On Thursday, I was surprised to receive an e-mail from Mark stating that he would need to get the payment from me upon my return on Saturday. My father had gotten confused and did not give him the check when the work started, thinking he was to hand it over upon completion. I told Mark to ask my father for the check. I was amazed that they had worked 4 days on faith. I think their trust in me says very good things about the character of the company. The original plan called for pavers to be laid over an existing patio and the new patio created adjacent to that. After I thought about this awhile, I decided to leave the existing patio as-is and just increase the size of the new patio. This also required some changes to the extension of the retaining wall and the french drain. I asked Mark to please adjust the design and the estimate The contractor who installed the french drain also installed drainage lines for gutter downspouts, in case I ever decided to install gutters. When Mark calculated all of the changes, he told me that I would have a $1,900 credit. I questioned his calculations, as I absolutely believe the changes should have increased the total cost rather than decreasing it. He recalculated and determined that I would have an $800 credit. I questioned this figure also, and was told that the figures had been triple-checked and the price was good. Mark recommended gutters and arranged for an estimate which came back at $925, a very reasonable price. I asked that an additional change order be implemented to install the gutters. In total, the job took almost seven weeks to complete. We had a great deal of rain during that time, so I was not at all surprised. All of the workmen were very professional and did an excellent job. All of the trash was picked up and discarded. Mark even cleaned off my previously-existing patio. I was most pleased by the fact that everyone was very friendly and kind to my Dad who "supervised" the project throughout. I was on travel for 5 of the 7 weeks of the project, so only met a few of the workmen for very short periods. Mark kept me informed about progress via periodic e-mails and phone calls. I'm still convinced that Durable Designs short-changed themselves on the total price, but they stood by the ffinal. In all, I ended up with everything I wanted, plus previously unplanned gutters, for only $125 more than the original estimate. One of the reasons that I wanted this work done was to eliminate the rainwater seeping into my basement. I can already tell that this problem has been resolved. Working with Durable Designs was a great experience. Everyone was professional and friendly. My new hardscaping looks gorgeous, and I feel like I got great value for my money. I"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Pulaski, TN

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
