"100% recommend these guys. Aaron was very professional and provided fair pricing. Really appreciated that they were straight forward in their estimates and timing. We got our wallpaper removed and walls painted in one of our bedrooms. Wallpaper removal is super tedious and they did a phenomenal job. Even did a couple extra things without being asked, which we really liked! We were very happy with the quality of work, so much so, that we asked them to do another job for us - repairing our shed in the backyard. Once again, they delivered great work in a very timely manner. Will definitely plan on using this company again in the future for other home improvement jobs!"

"My parents and I live in a old brick apartment building in Hoboken that is from the 1880s. The bathroom in our apartment had not been updated since the 1940s. We needed help ASAP. We checked out Cesar s page and wanted to hire him immediately. The reviews speak for themselves. When he came into our apartment to give us a quote we knew that this was contractor we needed to get the job done. Cesar is affordable, friendly, and very accommodating to any issues or concerns you have before starting the project. Two massive issues with our project were that my dad has spinal & walking issues, so we needed the floors clear of all tools and materials at the end of the each day so that father could walk efficiently through the apartment. The other big issue was that we only have 1 bathroom, so Cesar agreed to work with us on pulling the toilet off and on as every day finished so that we did not have to leave our building to use the toilet. Him and his crew are the best and take pride in their work so that owner is happy with the final result. We brought the bathroom down to the bare bones and rebuilt it back up. I worked with him every step of the way to make sure that he needed all materials to get the job done in the time we needed. This project was an intense remodel with some of the hardest demo and substrate materials that an old bathroom can have. He didn t think anything of it. He has veteran experience in the field and this remodel only took 3 weeks. We are very impressed with Cesar s craftsmanship and professionalism and we will be hiring him again for any future interior projects."

"<p>BUYER BEWARE.  I hate long reviews...but I wish someone rang the warning bell with a review of their experiences before we used Ernest & Sons.</p> <p>To be fair In the end the job was done--but at what cost?  We worked with Jose a few years back to replace our driveway.  Jose and team did an excellent job.  So when we wanted to have our patio and walkway done we called Ernest and sons again.  This time we dealt with Ernest.  Initially he was nice and helpful showing me other patios completed.  We were very specific on timing to finish the project he was in agreement understanding weather delays could impact the completion.  </p> <p>Once the contract was signed ...communications on their side stopped.  We had to call several times to see when the project would start. Once the job started the guys on site were nice but they did not speak much English and there no project manager to check in to see how things were going.  <br /> <br /><br /> <br />When the job was done there was light rain and we noticed pools of water on the patio.  I put paper cups in the standing water and took pictures.  I contacted Ernest he came out and never conceded there was a problem as he looked at the standing water.  However he sent a crew back (again we had not paid yet) to remove the pavers and ensure it was level. They removed pavers in different areas 5 TIMES to level the patio.  While I truly appreciate their efforts...why didn't the first crew simply get it right. </p> <p><br />DAMAGES TO OUR YARD AND NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR.  In the process of building our patio they drove trucks onto our yard<br /> <br />and the neighbors damaging both yards.  I immediately took pictures and called Ernest--he assured me all damages would be taken care of.  When the job was complete his guys put seeds down and we paid in full.  However almost a month later there were only spots of grass and both yards still damaged. </p> <p>I called again sent more pictures and he sent another crew that told my husband they were putting  down the 'good stuff this time' (really). We watered the lawns twice a day same as before...the damage is still there are now we have to pay out of pocket to fix our lawn and our neighbors! <br /> <br /><br /> <br />ICING ON THE CAKE.  Company called and asked if Ernest could bring a potential customer to see the patio. My husband agreed assuming he could talk to Ernest about damages.  Ernest was no show...they gave the prospects our address...and to our surprise two strangers walked into our backyard without even ringing the doorbell. I do not fault the couple but Ernest and Sons for handling this entire job so unprofessionally. </p> <p>If you still choose to use this merchant ...good luck and get in writing how damaged will be handled.  <br /> <br /></p> <br />"

Carlos Palomino is the very best when it comes to remodeling. He originally register his company as a handyman. Very quickly people learned that his craftsmanship was the very best. He went from being a handyman to building bran new homes in no time. The difference is he is not going to sub a lot of work out; he is able to do most things himself. Having a general contractor on the job gives you not only excellence but you can count he is on time as well.

"I generally do not write reviews, however, I feel compelled to write one here. I was extremely happy with the overall experience with Magic Garage Cleaners. Process was easy and I got the results I was looking for. I was able to take pictures of what I needed cleaned and Dave from Magic Garage Cleaners provided me with a line-item quote of his recommended services based on pictures and a brief phone call conversation. He and his team arrived on the day of the work and did an amazing job. His work exceeded my expectations. I would unequivocally recommend him to any close friend or family member for garage cleaning services."

"Dominick from D&J Construction just finished a screened-in, covered 20’x20’ deck for us. It’s amazing! We couldn’t be happier. Dominick deserves a lot of credit for persevering through the pandemic, which led to substantial labor shortages for him. He would usually have multiple crews going, and was down to himself and one other person through most of the construction, and did much of this work himself. Thank you Dominick! We definitely appreciate your sticking with us through this pandemic and finding a way to get this done. Dominick also dealt with significant material shortages, having to run to another state at times just to pick up additional material. Dominick does a great job in treating his customers right; he listens, is courteous, friendly and was accommodating of what we were wanting to do as well as some last-minute changes. The quality of the work was terrific, and we really appreciated Dominick’s attention to detail. We couldn’t be happier with the end result, and the inspectors were pretty impressed as well. Dominick’s quote was very competitive, and he managed really well to that budget. Dominick is very capable, and handled a pretty large job for us from soup to nuts. He arranged an architect for us to work with, and took care of permits, inspections, managing multiple sub-contractors, and construction from footings to framing to finish work. We’ve struggled with general contractors who’ve put us in the middle of working with sub-contractors; Dominick definitely does not do that; he manages the job end to end. I’d highly recommend Dominick to anyone, especially for bigger jobs where you need an extremely capable contractor."

FAQs for garage building service projects in Randolph, NJ

A well‑constructed, properly permitted detached garage adds between $12,000 and $36,000 to a home’s resale value. Buyers appreciate the secure parking, extra storage, and flexible workspace, so appraisers often bump the property’s value accordingly. The exact return depends on the garage’s size, finishes, and how well it matches the main house, but most homeowners see a strong ROI when the build meets local codes and passes inspection.

Yes—once it meets local building codes and you secure the proper permits, a detached garage can be converted into living space. Finishing the interior, adding climate control, and ensuring safe egress effectively increase your usable square footage, though it may not always count toward the official listing. Skipping permits can trigger fines and even force you to undo the work, so always clear plans with your city first.

Most homeowners policies cover a detached garage under the “other structures” provision, but coverage limits vary. Review your declarations page and ask your agent how much protection you have for separate structures. If the limit is lower than the garage’s replacement cost, you can raise it for a modest premium. Confirming the details now prevents headaches if you ever need to file a claim.
