"Ro called back the same day. He came the next day on time and evaluated the job. I needed 2 basement windows and a sliding glass shower door. The price was reasonable. He put in the order in and installed them the following week. He cleaned up after. I would definitely recommend him."

I’m a reliable construction and maintenance professional with hands-on experience in residential repairs and renovations. I currently work as a maintenance technician for a large property, handling everything from small fixes like lighting and fixtures to larger projects such as laminate flooring, sinks, and vanities.\n\nPreviously, I was a project manager overseeing full kitchen and bathroom gut renovations, while also working hands-on from demo to installation. This gave me a strong understanding of doing jobs efficiently and to a high standard.\n\nI take pride in being detail-oriented and delivering quality results that last. I’m also honest and upfront—if something is outside my expertise, I’ll communicate that clearly. With strong customer service skills, I focus on making every job smooth, professional, and stress-free for the customer. \n\nIf you’re looking for someone reliable, hardworking, and committed to quality, I’m here to help get the job done right.\n\n

"Peter was the best. He responded quickly to all our questions. All quotes were clear and done when promised. Price was fair. He was able to start a week sooner than plan and wrapped up about a week early so his timing was right on. We live out of state and he sent us frequent pictures and called right away anytime he ran into something and needed our input. We were able to arrive to see all the improvements a couple of weeks after he finished. Peter came over to make sure we were happy and we were thrilled. We found all the work to be done well and our home clean and everything in good order. He even took care of fixing a broken window due to a rogue golf ball during this time. Peter will always be the first contractor we call in Hilton Head."

"Excellent. The technician was very careful in assessing the window when he came to get measurements for the estimate. I was called the next day with a very reasonable estimate for the work that needed to be done. Gild-n-son worked with my schedule and arrived right on time. The technician was very efficient during installation. I am extremely happy with the services provided."

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Raritan, NJ

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
