I was most impressed by the young man onsite supervisor, Josh who answered all my work done, how and why questions. I wish this info was provided up front by the estimator. "Project kickoff began with an evaluation and a quote from a Ned Clyde engineer. After accepting the offer, we waited for 3 months to begin work due to high demand for their services. Project work spanned about four weeks, with some downtime due to weather. Aside from the main work of returning the floor and walls to original positions, the french drain along the foundation was remade with modern material. This work required a permit from the city of Martinez that required adding an earthquake shutoff valve for the natural gas service and a check for smoke and carbon monoxide detectors matching current codes. The cost of these upgrades were outside of the feeds paid to Ned Clyde, but they are sensible requirements that would have been done eventually anyway. Overall, the Ned Clyde folks are experts who did exactly what they promised with no required feedback. Costs were in line with other quotes, but I got the sense that I got a great bargain in value provided."

The painting crew was not as diligent about clean up as we would have liked but, once we pointed something out, they took care of it promptly. "I appreciated they have  front desk staff answered the phone and scheduled the appointment. The estimator made the trip to inspect the job site on time and gave a written quote within a week as promised. The only problem is the price which is the highest among all I gathered. Since they are interested in the GC role, they gave me itemized quotes for other tasks as well (e.g. framing). They are all in the higher end of my solicited responses. I know they may have great quality of work but my instinct drive me to look for other shops that have equally good rating or word of mouth. For foundation work itself, I think their price is at least 25% more than the average quote I had. Even considering a GC charging 15-20% markup, I still think their bid is a bit high."
