"I am so happy with the updates! I had them come out to bid the job, and the technicians suggested solutions I had not thought of, but really liked. I was able to accept an early install appointment due to a cancellation, and so my garage is now safely re-wired, with additional outlets for easy shop use and beautiful bright daylight LED lighting to replace the funky workaround lighting that had been in place. I LOVE the way it looks and works!"

"Eadim provided the estimate and Quincy installed the outlets. They were on time and provided very professional service. On Angi's page for MECO their Accepted Method of Payment stated "Cred Card". After receiving the invoice requesting payment I made several attempts to inform them that I would be using my Credit Card/VISA to pay the balance due, however, an online payment method was not provided. I requested their assistance to facilitate payment, asap. finally I received an email reply stating they weren't set up to take Credit Cards as payment but will accept Zelle, Vennmo, cash or check. That contradicts the Angi's page online for MECO. In future hirings, I'll be super vigilant confirming directly rather relying on posted info online. My rating reflects my disappointment regarding the payment method incident. Ella Ward, Michelle's mom."

"Very grateful to have found and hired Red Wire Electric to upgrade my switches and outlets, install new lights, a ceiling fan, and address a safety issue on the spot with the wiring of my water heater that I wasn’t aware of. Communication with Victor leading up to my appointment was excellent, and his employees Johnny and Sam were awesome; they arrived on-time, were super kind and professional, very efficient and helpful. I would 100% hire them again for any future project, and I highly recommend them to anyone seeking residential electrical upgrades. I just purchased an old condo in need of a lot of work to modernize, and Johnny and Sam easily addressed everything on my list, and more. Thank you so much for fast, very friendly, and affordable service. Attached: 2 photos of gross "before" switches, and 8 photos of "after" (rocker switches, fan, and lights) "

"After sending out requests to multiple electrician contacting online sites (Angi, etc.), we chose Seatown based on two factors that were important to us: 1) competitive hourly rate; 2) resources. The latter was a paticular critical concern since our elecrical problem incident had resulted in an extension cord being seperated from its plug (minor explosion followed by a spark and smoke) during plug into the wall socket, resulting in the circuit going partial "dead". Consequently, we had concerns that a complex issue may be involved. Seatown initally scheduled us for the next day; however, an electrician became available a couple of hours later and they were able to respond at that time (thank you Brenda). Our problem was resolved after the technician, Gage, check the system, electric panel box, and wall plug-ins on the impacted circuit, and we were back to "full power' within a couple of hours. Gage replaced a 35 year old breaker that was part of the issue. Addiionally, we had him check an outside outlet that would occasionally trip the GFI switch. The outside outlet was part of the GFI system for our three bathrooms. Turns out that due to bathroom remodels a few years ago, that paticulair line was near its maximum load, thus causing the GFI trip if anything above a certain out put was plugged in and operated. It shouldn't present a problem going forward now that we know the load limits. We found the total invoice cost fair and market driven; and Gage not only explained the issue(s) but made sure we actually understood in non-electrical terms. Overall a very pleasent, profession exsperience."

FAQs for electrical switches, outlets & fixtures install or repair projects in Renton, WA

To select and hire an electrician for your light switch installation, start by evaluating candidates as you would for any skilled position. Ask detailed questions, request a written quote, and verify their licensing credentials. This careful screening prevents unexpected fees and ensures every aspect of the installation, including any drywall repairs, complies with code.

A light switch can malfunction due to compromised wiring or overheating conditions. Faulty connections and excess heat diminish the switch’s performance. If you hear crackling, popping, or hissing sounds when toggling the switch, this indicates active electrical faults that pose a safety hazard and demand immediate professional inspection. Prompt attention prevents further damage and ensures reliable operation.

Installing a light switch takes 30 minutes or less, on average. The installation time depends on the switch type, with dimmer switches requiring additional time compared to standard on-off switches. While the hardware replacement might be completed in 15 minutes, it's essential to adhere to safety protocols, like turning off the circuit breaker and verifying there's no power, for a safe and code-compliant installation.
