I’m a hardworking person who doesn’t like to leave projects half finished or looking sloppy, I can be a bit of a perfectionist. I’ve always fixed and built almost everything I needed myself and I take pride in being self sufficient. I’ve been an electrician for a year and half now and before that I was fabricating aerators for private residences. I have a wife and two children, so I can handle the chaos of a whole house remodel even if you decide to alter any details halfway through.

"I would like to say how much I appreciate the excellent service HealthySpaces has given me. After trying to find and figure out my basement smell problems HealthySpaces came in and started anew. They totally honored my contract and guaranteed their services. I was very satisfied with the hard working personnel. They did great work and cleaned up after themselves I will definitely recommend HealthySpaces with confidence to all homeowners. Thank you for going above and beyond to get my problems repaired. "I hired ace to install a new water heater and fix a few leaks in a vacant rental house. There was no issue with their work, however water didn't get shut off after the job was completed and as a result the basement flooded from a separate issue. I live in another state and gave them a call to speak with them about the problem. Even though Ace was not directly responsible for the issue, Dennis and the team at ACE came out and helped clean up the mess.  <br /> They went above and beyond with this job. I was very impressed with their responsiveness and willingness to help beyond the scope of their work. I would certainly recommend them and use them again. <br /> Job well done ACE! <br />"

"Jason was fantastic he is very knowledgeable and tried really hard (I am very picky) to find my perfect bathroom even though I didn't know what I wanted. All of his workers were clean cut and very respectful, so respectful in fact it is the first time my husband has let someone work on our home without him present. A remodel is scary and these guys really helped take away the scare and get me ready for my new amazing bathroom. <br /> I had used a different company in town and they completely messed up my job because they were $200 cheaper...they were cheaper for a reason! I called Jason and he came over before the end of the day and we worked out everything that needed to be done. His billing was on target and didn't hit me with a bunch of extra like the other contractor did. We need more companies like this in our area. <br />"

"We live in Louisville and our home in Owensboro was in need of a remodel to put on the market for sale.  Ronnny and his wife preformed the inital quote and provided pictures and samples of the new lighting fixtures, tile, bathroom fixtures, carpet, etc.  The remodel scope was both the every room of the home as well as the the exterior. <br /> Ronny provided a detailed quote in a timely fashion andit was to the detail that we requested. <br /> As happens with a remodel of this size, unforeseen issues with plumbing and electrical arose as part of the 3 month process.  Ronny would work with the contractors to come up with the most cost effective solution prior to presenting it to us for consideration.  He would also provide pictures if I was offsite and a personal walkthrough of the issue if I was onsite and took the time to teach me whats and whys of the issue and the purposed solutions. <br /> Ronny provided updates weekly on the progress and, although the heavy winter snows in January caused some details on the exterior components of the remodel, he and his contractors were effectent for meeting deadlines. <br /> Ronny's wife was a heavy contributor to the design of the remodeled spaces and worked well with my wife to provide a cohesive and high-end look to the home and finished product.  So much so, that our retailor, whom did a walkthrough prior to the work being completed, wanted to up the sales price of the home based on the finshed look. <br /> <br /> <br />"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Robards, KY

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
