"It was a small job of closing off and capping an abandoned gas pipe. Because natural gas was involved, I wanted a certified plumber. Billy was prompt and neat. I am satisfied with the outcome."

"We've had Weld and Sons out twice to replace two different corroded pipes. (The pipes were so corroded inside that the sinks were backing up). Both times they were courteous and easy to book. They showed up on time. They did a great job with the repair and charged a reasonable rate compared to the other estimates we got. They put tarps down before working so my place didn't become a mess. I've hired them twice and would gladly hire them a third time."

"Ryan did a fantastic job roughing in my post frame building for a bathroom and running a gas line extension from my house. The project had a small window to get the work done, making scheduling a plumber difficult. Citywide arrived on time and provided a professional service and product, rolling with changes that popped up during the build. I will definitely call on Citywide to finish the plumbing in the shop next year and to help with any other future work in our house! I will recommend them to my friends in the area!"

"Things started with a trip to the Angie's List web site.  I narrowed my search to "A" rated companies that were relatively close to my neighborhood.  I sent messages to four plumbers.  I don't remember why I focused on Hoagland plumbing, but I did. <br /> I spoke with Nicole who runs their office.  Dana was available within my time frame. That was a huge relief. We'd meet our deadline. <br /> As with all four plumbers I spoke with, Nicole told me the work would be on a time and materials basis. Hoagland's rates were comparable with the others. <br /> Before the date of the work, I got a call from the better half of Hoagland Plumbing, Kathy. Kathy and I discussed the nature of the work. She said it sounded like it was more complicated than my layman's description implied. She asked if I could take some photos. I did. My project was way more complicated. Thanks to my good luck, Hoagland's had a cancellation on the the date of my appointment and Dana would be able to start his day with us. <br /> The project looked like two long, separate gas lines, one to the water heater and one to the furnace needed to be replaced. All that copper and labor would cost us around $2,000. Along the way, there would be a challenge in that the inspector wouldn't be able to inspect the job for at least 24 hours. That means on a December's winter evening, we wouldn't be able to use our furnace because the new pipes would not have been inspected and approved. <br /> In the end, because of Dana's experience and creativity and because of his relationship with a very professional inspector, not only was our furnace running that evening, but the problem of two bad lines of pipe was resolved with one new line of pipe. The cost was $1300. <br /> Finally, as we homeowner's tend to do, along the way I asked Dana a question about a little plumbing problem that was bugging me. Not only did he explain the problem, he gave me the instructions that would allow me to do the work myself. Not only that, he went out of his way to make sure I'd know how to fix the little issue. That extra time came at the end of his day. <br /> Three cheers for Dana Hoagland Plumbing. Thank you Dana, Kathy and Nicole. <br />"

"Nate is the best! We had a copper pipe leak, and Nate was able to be here within a couple of hours. He relaxed the copper section and installed a shut-off valve. I bought a custom-ordered Koehler toilet from Home Depot (never again. I then scheduled Nate to install. Short story: the toilet bowl was broken, and it would take Home Depot weeks to get get a new one. Nate called Ferguson in Plymouth — they had the same model. Nate picked it up and we had a new toilet in :45 minutes!"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Rockville, MN

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
