"Earthscape contacted me within minutes of my requesting a quote. Their operations manager was at my home at 11am the next day and was able to give me a proposal in writing for the project before he left. The work commenced three days later. The installers did a fantastic job of removing my pinestraw, installing metal edging and putting down mulch. They even added extra areas without charge that were not including in the proposal! From beginning to end, everyone with whom I interacted from Earthscape was lovely: kind, professional and happy to be doing the job...the kind of people I would love to have as neighbors. I cannot recommend The Earthscape Company highly enough and have already recommended them to two neighbors that have projects Earthscape could do. Would that everyone that provides in-person services were so fantastic!"

"The service techs were courteous and prompt, calling when they were en route. The estimated time needed for the repair was spot on and they were immaculate in keeping the work area clean not only at the end of the day and job, but throughout the work day."

"This is what was done - removal of stump grindings & unwanted plants. Created a small berm in front yard. Installed 34 new plantings. Created an expanded natural area in back yard. Created a flagstone path along side of house. Plus, flagstone landing off of rear garage entry door. Price included all materials such as approx. 30 flagstones, 12 yards screened fill dirt, 8 yards of double hammered mulch, etc. Jason was great to work with as he listened to my desired changes and went from there. Very happy with the end result."

"It was wonderful and great, I loved working with Brian and his guys. I had a paver patio started by someone else who did not complete it. There was a lot of work in picking up pavers that were already set down and redoing things. Brian is easy and fun to talk to, he is energetic and creative. He really helped me clear up my vision and see things I hadn't seen before. The walls and landscaping really complete the patio, they were like the icing on the cake."

"In total I spoke with four contractors. When you work, scheduling is difficult - so this process took some time. When Sal came he was thorough, professional and informative. His on the spot estimate included a diagram and two alternatives for fixing the sheetrock where the previous tile had been removed. The sheetrock was heavily damaged and Sal said I could fix it or replace it. He gave me two estimates. I was impressed with his expertise and thoroughness - he actually walked me around the kitchen and pressed on the sheetrock to show me how flimsy it had become. After careful consideration, I decided to go with Stonecraft. We had received previous estimates of $2500, $1500 and $1000 - none of which included the replacement of the sheetrock. We opted to go with Stonecraft at $1600 - which included replacing the sheetrock. When his crew removed the sheetrock we found out that the previous owner had not attached any electrical outlets to beams - they were floating in the wall. Sal attached them at no extra charge. The sheetrock was replaced and then Sal worked with me to schedule the tile installation on a weekend so I did not have to take a day off. The tile installation was done by Javier - it is amazing. We ran tumbled marble in a brick or subway pattern around the kitchen and over the stove installed a framed herringbone pattern. It looks AMAZING! And I couldn't be happier. No money was asked for up front. We paid in two installments, once after the original sheetrock was taken down and the new sheetrock installed, and then again after the job was complete. Throughout the entire process Sal carefully protected my counter tops which are also marble. They sustained no damage. I heartily recommend Stonecraft and will definitely use them again when I redo my bathrooms."

"Tim was on time for our meeting and on the spot provided useful suggestions for what absolutely should be done (sump pump and basin replacement), what would be good to do (seal crawlspace vents and install liner and dehumidifier, and what didn't really need to be done (mold remediation and replacement of floor joist insulation).  He was cordial, willing to accommodate my needs and came with samples of the liners he uses for crawlspaces. <br /> We met on a Monday and I didn't get his estimate until Saturday while competitors gave a quote within a day or two of meeting.  The estimate included removing my old insulation and replacing it with new insulation and scrubbing off the mold, which he'd previously said wasn't needed.  It also included replacing my broken but cosmetically fine crawlspace vents and then sealing them shut.  I ended up having a company just seal the existing vents shut with foam board insulation which made a whole lot more sense to me.  The estimate was very brief and did not explain what was included in his sealed crawlspace system (it varies from company to company) and he provided no supporting materials while competitors gave very detailed contracts and in some cases booklets explaining their sealed crawlspace systems.  One thing that was clear is that required electrical and HVAC work was the responsibility of the customer; some competitors offer a turnkey solution so their customer doesn't have to act as their own general contractor.  No explicit warranty was offered while a couple of competitors offered various degrees of warranty on liner durabilty and/or moisture control.  It's difficult for me to compare AccuDry's price to the competition due to several items in AccuDry's quote that were not recommended by any competitors and the lack of clarity on what is included in the AccuDry sealed crawlspace. <br /> I feel like I could have found a way to work with Tim on my crawlspace but it would have required a good deal more effort on my part just to figure out the costs involved for what really needed to be done while the company I went with had made it all very clear to me with a day or two and offered a very good price.  <br /> <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Rockwell, NC

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
