Small jobs welcome

"I hired a plumber through HomeAdvisor using prepay but I would not recommend this service. The contractor left a leaky pipe that caused water coming up through carpet. I had to purchase a wet vacuum to dry out the carpet. I had to contact HomeAdvisor again and hired Dave the Plumber, LLC who had to redo the installation done previously. Dave the Plumber replaced all the piping and outside spigot because of a water leak the previous contractor left. Thank you Dave the Plumber for being a professional and a job well done."

"Excellent service by MarKool. First it is a small company so when you call them you talk directly to the person doing the work. Second they are highly responsive. Third at the home they are very personable and answer all questions in detail. Fourth In fixing my problem they showed they are highly skilled and experienced in HVAC in this case as it pertains to gas furnace operation."

"Joseph was great to work with. He contacted me right away on a sunday and was at our house early monday. We had a pipe leaking from somewhere and he was able to locate the problem area without having to open up to much wall space. The repairs were done quickly and professionally once located. Joseph was very professional and personable. Great over all experience and would recommend his company to anyone needing plumbing repairs."

"They went above and beyond to fix pipes that were corroded and fixed multiple leaks we didn’t know about. They were timely, efficient, knowledgeable, professional and communication was excellent from everyone I encountered. Follow-up was wonderful and they even came back out when I needed new work done. I can honestly say without reservation, I would use them for all of my plumbing needs. They even went a step beyond to provide me a consultation with other highly recommended contractors for other jobs. They are a 10,000 star company! I have a few more jobs in the near future and they will definitely be my go-to people."

"We decided to purchase our own propane tank to allow us flexibility in choosing our propane provider, so Shawley's was recommended to us.  We went to their showroom, where Jim explained everything to us and even stayed after hours to get everything lined up for our install.  We had the tank installed and all lines run for a hot water heater and stove and also had an extra line installed in case we decided to hook up a gas grill on the patio.  They were very responsive and worked well with our contractor in getting the job completed on a tight schedule.  They also gave us a very good price on propane.  Definitely a great company to work with - highly recommended! <br />"

"<p>The phone was answered by a secretary when we called which was a welcome change to the answering machines we got with so many other plumbers. We were able to make an appointment for the next day for an estimate. When Bob wasn't able to show up for his appointment he called to let us know that he had an emergency and rescheduled us for the next day in the evening to suit our schedule. He was on time for that appointment and made short work of reviewing the job and gave us an estimate on the spot. He was also able to schedule an appointment to do the work right from his phone planner. All of this was appreciated because we have had issues with getting calls back from other plumbers for estimates or appointments after the first visit.</p> <p>Ed, the plumber who did the work was on time, courteous and efficient. He got the whole job done in a little over an hour and didn't make any more mess than necessary and cleaned up after himself. </p> <p>Considering it took only about an hour we thought the price was a little higher than it needed to be but we were willing to pay it because we needed to get the work done and they were the only plumber of 8 that we called that bothered to return our calls.</p> <p>We will use Bob Jone's Plumbing for future jobs.</p> <br />"

"First, the price quoted on the phone to us the day before service was not the price we had to pay after the water heater was installed. It was $200. MORE. Then, 2 days after installation, we noticed water on the basement floor around the base of the heater. We called, someone came out the next day and said the new piping was incorrectly installed. He fixed it (hopefully). This expensive water heater also makes a louder, rattling noise when it is heating up water, compared to our older model, the same brand, Bradford White. We can only hope this water heater lasts."

"I've had to call Larry and Sons twice over the past few months.  First time because my 2 year old flushed a Matchbox car down the toilet and second because our attic AC unit had a clogged drain pipe.  Both times someone called me within a couple hours of filling out the online form and both times they were at my house within 24 hours.  Both service experts were extremely professional, courteous and fully explained the problem and what it would cost to fix.  The most recent one was Josh Deal and he even made sure to be extra quiet while flushing the drain since our 2 year old was napping in the room below.  That's service!!  They have a customer for life.  As an added bonus, their USA member service is great.  I signed up on the spot and it even saved me money on my current visit. <br />"

"First of all, they could not have been nicer and I feel bad giving a bad report. The person setting up the appointment and the technicians who did the work were very nice and professional in their behavior. I think part of the problem is actually Angie's List and how it is being utilized by providers. But, there is no way that a new toilet flap should have cost me $230.00. <br /> I bought an Angie's List special deal for getting my toilets tuned up for $89.00 because one of my toilets was running for about 15 second every hour. <br /> When I set up the appointment, I told them there was only one toilet and that it had been a problem in the past because it is not a typical toilet. It is an American Standard toilet from Home Depot but evidently, but it has an unusual 3 inch flapper. <br /> The technician came to my house and said, "I don't have a part for this toilet" but , he replaced the shut off float and said we would see if that solved the problem. By the end of the day, it was obvious that this did not fix the problem. <br /> Dun-Rite offered that I could find the part and they would install it for $125.00 or, they could supply the part and still install it for $125.00. I am not a plumber and I have no knowledge of plumbing parts, so I elected to let them do it. It took a couple of weeks for them to get the part. <br /> They finally got it done yesterday and it seems to be holding. I don't think they should have charged me the additional $125.00 because they did not fix the problem on  the first visit, there should have been some guarantee for their work. But, as anyone living in the Washington DC area knows, getting someone to work in your house on a small repair can be a nightmare, so I went with the company that had started the repair instead of undergoing the stress of finding a new company and have them start the entire process again. <br /> I will think very carefully before I take any more Angie's List special deals because I think I could have saved money by requesting a free estimate instead, which a lot of companies offer. <br />"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Rocky Ridge, MD

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
