"I was glad with how fast, friendly, easy it went for me to turn it in and get results quickly. They helped with my Angie's discount so it was good to know i got the best price (less than I imagined) to have this done. The possibility of having mold in a house is stressful enough... glad to have this go smoothly."

"Gary Hubert Home Owner: <br /> Louisiana Home Specialists,LLC is a top notch company. First of all they responded immediately to me filling out the purchase order of $500 of insulation for $99 on Angie's List. Darren called me about my order and came to my home to give me an estimate on insulating my atic. I needed to get extra insulation in my attic and his add on Angie's List along with the great discount caused me to take action to finally get it done. Darren responded quickly to my add and came to my home and looked at my attic and measured it and gave me two estimates. One for spray foaming the between the roofing rafters and the second one by adding six more inches of insulation over my existing insulation. Darren was very nice, courteous, and easy to talk to and has excellent customer service skills. The very next day I had my estimate on my email. Darren called me back before I could call him and asked me what I thought about the estimate. I have a large attic which covers about 2600 sq feet. His estimate was $1700 for the whole job including the $500 discount. I told him to get started as soon as possible and he and his crew were back in two days to do the job. When his crew came they went into my attic and I had things stored in different places and not in order. I also had Crown Molding thrown in my attic from the renters who took them from my garage floor and put them in my attic any kind of way. The crown moldings cost me $1700 and have been up there for approximately 3 years. Darren offered me to remove them from the attic for a small fee and I agreed because they were in the way of spraying the new insulation. I thought my crown moldings were ruined. Darren's crew straightened my whole attic, removed the crown molding and sprayed my attic to perfection! All of my stuff is stored in one place in my attic and the job looks beautiful. Unexpectedly when Darren's crew removed the crown molding from the attic it didn't look damaged as I thought. Darrens crew cleared a place in my garage an stacked the crown moldings which were 16ft lengths neatly in the cleared space for me. I couldn't have done any of this because I need double hip replacement. Also, while Darren's crew were moving my stuff into one area for storage his employee stepped on a piece of ply wood flooring which wasn't secure and stepped through my dining room ceiling. The employee was so sorry and I just wanted to make sure no one was hurt. Anyway Darren said he would have his contractor come and fix my ceiling. The next day Tim the contractor was in my house fixing my ceiling and did a wonderful job where you can't tell there was any damage to the ceiling! And guest what Tim also does Crown Molding and he's going to install the crown in my home after I've been having it lay there for seven years! So now my attic is finished with an R-31 insulation value recommended by Entergy for our climate in Louisiana. I'm going to get my overdue Crown Molding installed and Tim is also going to redo my front wood door for me. All I can say is that Louisiana Home Specialists LLC is a top notch insulation company and I would personally recommend to anyone and everyone anytime. Thank You Darren for a suburb job and outstanding customer service. You and your crew are an A+++! Thank you again! <br /> Sincerely, <br /> Gary S. Hubert <br /> Thankful Customer! <br /> <br />"

"Jason assessed the situation over the phone and set up an appointment for the following afternoon. Before the appointment, he wanted to make certain that we had extracted all the water. Otherwise, his course of action would have been to help us schedule the cleanup. Jason also gave us a reasonable expectation of minimum costs prior to the appointment. There was no estimate, but we knew the hourly cost and the cost to run each mold sample. I felt I had some idea of what to expect to pay before I agreed to the appointment. Glenn was running late for the appointment, but notified me in plenty of time so that it did not inconvenience me. Once he arrived, he wasted no time. He quickly assessed the situation and surveyed all the affected areas. He found moisture in a few areas and gave us simple, explicit instructions for how to handle the problem. I was very glad we called him because he was able to reassure us about many of the affected areas, and he found problems (moisture) where I had not thought to look. Glenn's approach was practical, down-to-earth, and efficient. His remedies were quick, effective, and relatively simple. Although his fees sounded costly at first, I believe his expertise saved us money. For instance, we were planning to remove all the sheetrock that was involved in the quick flood, but Glenn's assessment told us we had no moisture or mold problem, and verified that the sheetrock was dry and stable. This, alone, saved us a good bit of time, money, and inconvenience. He followed up with a detailed written report. This was good because we needed something to show insurance. In our case, wood floors had been damaged in the flood, and insurance photographs did not show the damage. Glenn's report verified that the floors needed to be removed. Additionally, his report gave us written instructions for continuing the cleanup. When I realized he charged an hourly rate that sounded rather steep, I was very careful about moving things along during Glenn's appointment. However, he did not waste any time. We kept it under an hour and I still felt I got my money's worth. Most of all, I got much-needed peace of mind that I wasn't going to be living in a mold-infested house for years to come. As for the overall value: I'm not sure how to value an expert opinion. Glenn did not DO the work, although I believe his company can provide that service. However, he was very encouraging to us while were doing the work ourselves. In my case, he helped to assure me that I had done the work properly and gave me a course of action to complete the work. I needed that kind of advice, because I have never dealt with standing water or flooding before. I hope I never do again, but if I do... I'll certainly call RTC."

FAQs for toxicity and mold removal projects in Saint-james, LA

Remediation should keep mold from returning as long as the moisture source is eliminated. Fix leaks, control humidity, and replace water-damaged materials, then schedule periodic inspections to stay ahead of new growth. With those safeguards, your home can stay mold-free for the long haul while protecting both health and property value.

Most pros recommend leaving the home while they work on mold remediation. Removing mold stirs up airborne spores that can aggravate respiratory issues, and contractors can work more efficiently in an empty space. A short, temporary relocation keeps everyone in your family safe and lets the crew finish the job without interruption.

Mold shouldn’t return once the moisture problem is fixed. Stay vigilant: repair leaks right away, keep humidity below 50 percent with a dehumidifier placed in damp areas, and improve ventilation where needed. Routine checks for leaks and mold and quick repairs go a long way toward keeping your home mold-free.

Mold spores can trigger nasal congestion, throat irritation, coughing, wheezing, eye irritation, or skin rashes. People with asthma, allergies, or weakened immune systems often feel the effects sooner and more intensely. Some molds also release mycotoxins linked to serious respiratory or neurological issues. Swift remediation and better ventilation are the best defenses.
