"As a Real Estate professional (agent and investor), I have used many chimney cleaning and inspection companies. Copperfield is by far the most knowledgeable, honest, and cost-effective company of all of them. Most recently, we listed a beautiful home in West St Paul that had a few bricks with cosmetic issues on the exterior and some firebrick that needed repair in one of the two fireplaces. The buyer hired a "chimney inspector" who claimed that all of the interior brick liners needed to be replaced with metal liners and the entire chimney rebuilt at a cost of over $15k. Anyone who knows about chimney construction knows that metal promptly deteriorates and expands and contracts with heat and would not be the way to fix a chimney even if needed. BEWARE of chimney companies claiming this to take your hard earned dollars. Many of them are being sued right now for doing so. We hired Copperfield again to give us an honest evaluation of the chimneys. They did a video scope, identified a few minor items that did need to be addressed (existing liner was in great shape), cleaned the chimney, and provided a detailed report and guaranteed bid for repair. We have used Copperfield for multiple inspections and repairs. They are always honest, fair, and timely. We highly recommend them and continue to use them and refer our clients to them when they need assistance with a chimney."

"A little difficulty in getting a hold of them.  Some phone tag back and forth, a couple days turn around time to respond to emails, but they did always respond and get back to us.  The estimate was very professional and knowledgeable.  We could have chosen to do a patch to fix the crack which went all the way from the top to the bottom and had been causing leaks, but instead decided to pay a little more to replace a handful of bricks with the patch.  Their workers were very friendly and helpful.  They were realistic and gave us a good idea of what to expect.  You can barely tell which bricks were replaced and were the crack was.  They did a nice job. <br />"

"These two guys called ahead to alert me they were 20 mins out, showed up on time, and were super clean - took off their shoes and laid down protective coverings on my hardwood floors. They did a thorough inspection outside and in and allowed me to watch their live camera inspection so there would be no surprises later, i.e. photo-shopped pics of my debilitated chimney. These guys couldn't have been more professional, friendly or knowledgeable - they gave me options for the future and capped off my chimney with a steel cap so that no rain or chimney swifts or other small animals come inside while I'm waiting to begin the work. I need a new steel liner and I knew this needed to be completed so there were no surprises. My housing inspector (not a great one) had recommended Jack Pixley for the job. Turns out Jack Pixley has been dead for over 4 years and his one-time great company is doing shoddy work. His son now runs 2nd Generation chimney. No Pixley's own or work for Jack Pixley. So if someone recommends Jack Pixley, go with a real Pixley and call 2nd Generation Chimney. These two did not sugar-coat what I was looking at spending should I rebuild the chimney. They gave me alternatives for inserts that are way cheaper than repairing the original structure, gave me the pros and cons of both jobs, and did NOT try to sell me ANYTHING. As a new homeowner, whom everyone and their uncle is attempting to sell something to, I appreciate this approach. They are also CSIA certified and that bears weight with me - I value my home enough to go the extra mile in ensuring it is protected by having specialists perform the work. I will definitely go with them when the time comes. I trust them and that is often worth $$$ to me. <br />"
