Small jobs welcome

"I hired Hammons Stone Work to build a 16x24 stone patio over an existing pad. The crew showed up on time every day, kept the work area clean, and were easy to talk to throughout the project. The stonework looks fantastic ? level, even mortar lines, and the finish ties in perfectly with the rest of the house; They clearly take pride in their work. It?s rare to find a local team that?s this professional and detail-oriented. Highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality stone work."

"The owner was very knowledgeable and came out to survey the job and quickly gave me a detailed estimate. Small changes in the job during the planning phase were promptly communicated via revised estimates, which was greatly appreciated. Peter had the proper equipment and finished the job quickly and as promised. I was pleased with the finished product and highly recommend Peter and his company."

"The shower was to be repaired and painted and the floor of the garage was to be Epoxy , walls, ceiling painted The second installment for the project was to be paid when these two items was completed and signed off. On July the 24,2024 I asked to test paint the rooms the new color just to make sure the color would be okay for what I picked out. Nigel agreed to pick up the paint and to test paint before the project was given the green light in an effort to keep the project on track for time. At this time is when I made a comment about the repair in the bathroom did not match the rest of the shower as I felt he was going to paint the complete shower as we had spoken in the past about the repair would not match and I wanted it to match. This is when nines are fresh that I would have to pay more to have the shower pain and he was charging me for the paint samples. I told him to proceed and we would resolve after everything passed inspection. I gave Nigel a pass on the inspection of the floor and to start the rest of the house but the was still problems with the floor. Hi, you said if wants the floor dry if that was any issues, he would take care of it, but it was only because the floor wasn’t dry yet that I was seeing what I saw. Nigel stated he could not paint the garage because the floor was wet and he would take care of it when he was doing the rest of the house and I agreed. On July 28, and then on an express several times about the floor having issues as well as he had the bathroom door locked, and I could not really look at the bathroom shower when it was being done. July 28 I agreed to pay extra fees that he was charging on the first of the month after I got a chance to look at the floor after being dry. I also agree for him to go ahead and start the rest of the house and he picked up the paint on the very next day, July 29. . The same day I made the second payment of three payments for the deposit for him to start the rest of the project and he had picked up the paint to start painting. On August 1 2024 Nigel demanded payment for the floor in the garage and the bathroom shower even though the task has not been completed or he would not start the rest of the household for what she had the second installment of payment to start. This point we had a back-and-forth I sent him the money and told him that this was crazy that we would probably have to end up in court if he did not finish the job and finish it correctly. We had a couple more back-and-forth and he decided that he would take my calls and he would come and complete the job but he wanted to if he wanted to, as we had no contract for his work"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Salem, AL

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
