The owner came to our home, measured our French doors and returned in record time to install beautiful, perfect, custom shutters!! We wished we found him sooner than later - the first company we found could not provide shutters for our French doors - get this, the French doors shutters were installed months before the first company. We wanted to cancel the first company but we had already paid 50% deposit but the first company wouldn’t cooperate. "All of our windows and sliding doors probably dated back to when the townhome was built in the 70's. They were single pane and didn't work very well. Five star windows did an excellent job on the install.  I would recommend the quality of their product and install to anyone.
One of the reasons for the expense is the HOA does not allow one to just replace windows, you have to go back into the stucco and re-frame the windows. Several people have told me that not only is this the right way to do it, it saves aggravation later on because since the window is into the frame of the building itself, there are no issues with settling.
The only issue we had is that someone forgot to pull a permit with the city of Saratoga and the inspector showed up for the pre-closing inspection and shut them down until they pulled the permit. This is a contractor who had just done over a dozen installations in our complex; they should know better. The result was a little bit of nail-biting on our part as this was just before thanksgiving and we had scheduled cleaners, handymen, etc in anticipation of their completion date.  As it was, they did complete it two days behind schedule so everything worked out OK"

"I had an okay experience with them. They did what they promised to do, but there was really no follow-up, to see if I was satisfied with the work. There were a couple of minor things that could have been done better. But I haven't reached out to them about it though. They contacted me right away, as soon as I bought the Big Deal, but then there were some scheduling glitches that kept them from coming out right away. The cost seemed like it was a fair value. They didn't leave me any warranty information on the blinds."
