"I had Paramount come out to give me an estimate on refurbishing my empty swimming pool. It had been leaking water and we emptied it 2 years ago so it was time to either fix it or fill it in.

The estimator/sales guy came exactly on time, discussed the process and the issues he could see and emailed me an estimate later in the day. The only fly in the ointment for this part of the process is that I wrote back and asked him what kind of things typically drove up the price of this type of project (originally slated to be a re-tile and re-plaster job) and he didn't have any. I think he could have but more on that later.

The workers showed up exactly when scheduled and got right to work. They found that much of the plaster had lifted away from the gunnite and they really had to take it all down. They also found about 3 times as many structural cracks as estimated but that had been left open so that was okay. I was disappointed to be hit with the new charge of stripping the pool but Jorge cut me a really generous deal for the cost of the stripping and the extra cracks and I'm pretty sure I got the better end of the bargain. They also found that there were cracks in the corners of the pool and they applied extra rebar and concrete to those areas. They did not charge me more money for those repairs.

The job started on 7/20 and by 7/29 water was flowing into the pool again and it looks great. The crew did a good job of cleaning up and I'm quite pleased with the outcome. I recommend Paramount without hesitation."

"We have been thinking about installing solar at our house for some time now. We had some quotes but nothing really "clicked".
On one weekend we went to a BBQ at one of my friends house and then I noticed a solar system on his roof. I asked him who did it and he said Green NRG. I got their phone number and called them for a quote. A nice guy came explained me about solar the different manufactures and the different products that are out there. He pointed out that his product might be more expensive then other companies but it is made in the USA. once i got the price i noticed the price was lower then some of the bids i got while using a better equipment. I signed a contract and within 4 weeks the installation crew were on my roof installing the system. On the first inspection they passed and a few weeks later after LADWP approved the system it was turned on. Since then I have been saving money on my electrical bill. The only thing in regards to the solar system project management in couple cases it was hard to get updates right away from the project manager. The project manager apologized and explained they are very busy and it was the end of the year and there were a lot of project in their system. Even though they were very busy the system was installed faster then the original time frame and we were very happy about that. In addition Green NRG offered us turf termination service with redesign and installation of drought tolerance landscape to reduce our water bills. The best part is that LADWP paid for that project. For the first time in my life my utility company paid for my landscape.

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."

"Responsiveness: Customer service was outstanding. They responded to calls within an hour. If I had a question about what time they were coming or what the next step was, Sharon from the main office was very responsive.
Punctuality: Michael Keller (our Sales Consultant) came out promptly to do the initial inspection and developed a quote for us. He listened to what we didn’t like about the current pool and what we wanted for the resurfacing. Michael had samples we could look at (touch and feel), he thought we had done our homework and knew what we wanted. He didn’t rush us nor did he try to up sale to higher more expensive options. We signed the contract that first visit and we were very impressed that they would be starting the work the following week. The crews always came out when promised, they worked diligently all day long and they cleaned up everyday before leaving. Each crew was staffed with punctual, hardworking craftsmen.
Professionalism: Very competent, well-trained and respectful professionals. They not only were respectful to the customer, but were respectful of our home and property as well.

Problems: Our problems started once we put water in the pool. After the pool was filled with water it began to leak. We had to have Aqua Gunite out 3 times before the leak was completely fixed. It is unfortunate but because of this we are left slightly disappointed and holding our breath that these “patches” will hold up long term. But, something also worth mentioning is that we were pleasantly surprised that there was no difference in Michael’s (and Aqua Gunite) responsiveness after the sale; he stayed on top of the problem until it was fixed. The source of the leak was found to be behind the new light that was installed.
Great people to work with, I would use them again.

FAQs for hot tub or spa repair or service projects in San Ramon, CA

To keep your hot tub in top shape, replace the filter annually and inspect the shell for any cracks. Test the water quality weekly, and schedule a professional service annually for $100 to $200. Consistent upkeep protects performance, ensures safe operation, and helps you avoid more expensive repairs down the line.

There is no single “correct” number, but a good rule of thumb is to use up to 30 jets per massage pump to provide balanced pressure and full-body coverage. Focus on jet quality, placement, and pump power rather than simply counting jets—the right mix delivers a soothing, efficient massage while keeping the system running smoothly.

When weighing repair versus replacement, start by comparing the total repair cost and the frequency of problems with the price of a new tub. If the spa is under 10 years old and the fix costs less than half the price of a new model, repair usually makes sense. Frequent breakdowns or repairs creeping toward new-tub pricing—especially when replacements can exceed $16,000—are strong indicators that it’s time to invest in a new unit.

With proper care and maintenance, a hot tub can last anywhere from five to 20 years. Plan for an annual professional service visit to address water-quality issues, component problems, or warning signs as soon as they appear. Staying on top of routine hot tub maintenance protects performance, safety, and long-term value.

You should consider replacing your hot tub pump if you notice unusual noises, a sudden drop in water pressure, or leaks near the pump housing. These key warning signs indicate that circulation is compromised, so call a professional hot tub repair expert promptly to keep the spa running in top condition.

A well-maintained hot tub heater lasts between seven and 10 years. You should always ensure the water’s pH is balanced and schedule yearly check-ups to maintain efficient heating. Catching minor issues early and scheduling regular hot tub professional maintenance helps the heater stay reliable and can prevent additional repair costs.
