"Our appointment with Jeff today was at 10am (he was here at 9:47!). He was very professional and he also assisted with a project that was not in the original quote! Also, the cabinet behind the toilet needed some adjustments to work in our bathroom and he took care of that as well! He finished all three projects within 4 hours and that was with me and my husband talking his head off!!!! I will definitely be calling Jeff in the future to get assistance with around-the-house projects. If you need help with projects, do yourself a favor and call Jeff!"

"Can do a wide variety of large and small projects. Very concerned about quality work.Still working with him. Looking forward to seeing the completion of several more jobs. Updated 09/30/20: Worked for us from May through 09/30/20. He re-did the Kitchen, painted the outside/inside of the house, replaced the doors, replaced rotten boards. He has outstanding attention to detail. He has good work ethnic. come when he says he will, gets jobs done. He will not do the job unless he can do it right. He is the best person we have found since we moved here. We have been here 13 years. He has fair pricing."

"Stephen Street (aka Tybee Handyman) is the best and the go to person for handyman services on Tybee Island. I have hired him 4 times and continue to hire him. I am never disappointed. He does the work in a timely and professional manner at a very reasonable cost. He is a real asset to Tybee Island and us long distance and local owners are really lucky to have him available to us. The Tybee Handyman is great at problem solving issues in my house. He is a jack of all trades and can help in multiple areas of home services including setting up cable and internet services. I basically create a "to do list", hand it to him and in a few hours, everything is done on it!!! He really looks out for his customers who he treats like family. I recommend Tybee Handyman 100%"

"Dietra is extremely professional and thorough. We had a small job - a laundry room with decades old carpet in and she turned it into a beautiful mudroom ( okay that's what I am calling it now!) She is meticulous and precise which when married to an equally precise perfectionist- gotta have ! She delivered! I would so employ her services again! She was referred by another contractor who raved about her and that in itself is a great compliment. Thank you Dietra!"

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Savannah, GA

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
