"
Due to a tight delivery schedule from Sears for new/replacement kitchen appliances, I had minimal time to schedule needed gas piping relocation for the new gas range.  Upon explaining my scheduling predicament to Jada and Linda in Ameriplumb's office, Kelly Chapman (Ameriplumb's Owner/Plumber) was very accommodating fitting me into his schedule by coming to my house on a Saturday (i.e., he was already booked-up during the weekdays). He removed certain applicable old gas piping and ran partial new 'TracPipe CounterStrike' branch gas piping in the basement, from a new branch isolation/shut-off valve he also installed; drilled a new access hole through very dense/tough kitchen floor tile for the new access point for the range gas rough-in; and provided an additional gas shut off valve at the gas rough-in point immediately behind the new gas range. (I.e., a new branch isolation/shut-off valve was needed in the basement since the original house construction did not provide any means to shut off this branch for a gas range installation.  It was necessary to shut-off the whole-house gas feed at the gas meter to install the new branch isolation/shut-off valve, which also required Kelly to relight the gas hot water heater after the gas meter valve was turned back on.)Kelly Chapman has also performed other plumbing services at my home and each time has been very prompt, efficient and professional; and has also been very receptive and accommodating in answering my numerous questions and explaining each aspect of his work during his installation/remodeling.I intend to continue commissioning Kelly Chapman for future work, including a future remodeling of our master bathroom, and would highly recommend Kelly Chapman of Ameriplumb to anyone considering such contracting work."

"The service technician (Anthony) was very professional. He was polite and listened to my concerns prior to performing an inspection/estimate of my crawlspace sump pump areas (2). The work performed by Anthony was outstanding. I would definitely hire Mr. Rooter again."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Savoy, IL

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
