"From the outset the entire team was very professional and courteous. The owner and his employees are friendly and very accommodating.  They arrived on time and worked with minimal breaks.  They worked 10-hour days Monday-Thursday so they could have Fridays off.  They took their time to do the job right, with no re-dos needed.  Our punch-list items at the end of the job were taken care of promptly.  This wasn't our first major construction project, and bar none Weaver is the best construction firm we've ever worked with. <br /> There were a lot of custom details in our project like a heated bathroom floor, log siding, stone veneer on the front stoop, pocket interior doors, and a round-top entry door.  The crew met every challenge and exceeded our expectations every time.  We can't think of any aspect of the job that we aren't happy with. <br />"

"We had a shed pad installed for our new shed. Bob really worked to make sure we understood the different types of pads we could get as well as the ground leveling process. He was the only contractor we talked to that put the pad in the ground (excavating some dirt) so that it didn't just sit on top. As an added bonus, he swiped away a patch of really thick ivy that we've been struggling with. When scheduling the pad, he did delay the installation due to weather issues, showing real concern that if we didn't delay at least a day, the installation would be less than the professional level he likes to leave with. I left for the morning to go to work and when I came home, the pad was ready for a shed. <br /> Bob shows a concern for his homeowner's well being in all matters and is very knowledgable. I fully recomend him to anyone seeking a similar install, and will consider Rock-a-fella's when ever I have a gravelly/patio/deck need in the future. <br />"

"Recently bought a 1925 house with a detached garage. We needed the garage to be expanded/extended. Wanted to get he work done before winter set in. Buterbaugh's Kitchen Center was very responsive with estimate and could begin the work in a short time. They provided several designs and made various suggestions (workflow and design) that we incorporated. The work began a few days after we signed the contract. We were very pleased with the work all along the way. Extra attention was paid to match existing archecture of house and garage - special molding millwork was required in some areas. Start to finish the job took about 7 weeks. Considering weather delays that pericodically occured this was a very responsive turn around and was completed prior to end of year as promised. It was a pleasure having the workman on the worksite. They were very professional and personable. Special attention was paid to clean up the work site at the end of every day. Overall, very pleased with the experience and would recommend Buterbaugh's to others."

"The building itself is great, good quality.  In preparation for construction we had to make the site level.  We had a contractor come in and build up the site to make it level.  Our contractor created a compacted level site using a modified stone mix as recommended by Pioneer. Pioneer's contract includes a statement that the customer is responsible for cleaning up the site after the building is complete.  When they came in to drill the holes for the poles their machine totally destroyed the surface that we had prepared.  I didn't expect it to be beautiful, and I thought I could rake it out when they were done.  I planned to have our garage floor be the modified stone mix that we had installed.  When they were done it was impossible to rake, and needed a bobcat to come in and regrade the whole floor.  While they showed me a video before construction, the impression I got from the video was very different than what we actually ended up with.  I complained to Pioneer and sent them pictures.  They told me that was the way the floors always end up unless you make a concrete floor.  They were quite unresponsive knowing they had a very unhappy customer.  Then they installed the garage doors.  It turns out the garage doors close down 3-1/2" lower than the walk in door.  If a building has a floor one would think that all of the doors should be at the same level at the bottom floor level.  I reported this to them also.  They said their quality control person would look at it.  I have not heard any response from Pioneer.  Their poor responsiveness and apparent lack of caring makes it certain that I will never use them again."

FAQs for garage building service projects in Saxton, PA

A well‑constructed, properly permitted detached garage adds between $12,000 and $36,000 to a home’s resale value. Buyers appreciate the secure parking, extra storage, and flexible workspace, so appraisers often bump the property’s value accordingly. The exact return depends on the garage’s size, finishes, and how well it matches the main house, but most homeowners see a strong ROI when the build meets local codes and passes inspection.

Yes—once it meets local building codes and you secure the proper permits, a detached garage can be converted into living space. Finishing the interior, adding climate control, and ensuring safe egress effectively increase your usable square footage, though it may not always count toward the official listing. Skipping permits can trigger fines and even force you to undo the work, so always clear plans with your city first.

Most homeowners policies cover a detached garage under the “other structures” provision, but coverage limits vary. Review your declarations page and ask your agent how much protection you have for separate structures. If the limit is lower than the garage’s replacement cost, you can raise it for a modest premium. Confirming the details now prevents headaches if you ever need to file a claim.
