"Highly recommend Disciple Masonry. I had stone pointing completed at the front of my house, chimney repointed, crown replaced, and cap added. Everyone on the team is professional, responsive, and courteous. Nathan on the office side does a great job with follow-up and keeping you informed. Charles came out to give me a quote, he was very knowledgeable, spent time answering questions, and providing options. The work-crew, Scott, Jake, and Derek did a great job working together to ensure everything was completed in a quality manner and were experts in their skill. Scott took time to speak with me on both days, followed up on my questions, shared pictures from roof advantage, and took time to explain everything. Scott was helpful and adept in his profession. Overall stellar masonry workmanship, and a great team"

"I called John because my wife agreed to a chimney sweep company which called us and came to clean our chimney, telling her that it would be $120. Luckily I was here when vacuumed out our zero clearance fireplace chimney. They did find cracks in the bottom and back;prefab panels in the fireplace fire box and they did a 'free' inspection of our furnace chimney which he then found some water 'damage' . They then told me that they would have to re-cement the furnace fireplace cracks and also cement the panels in the fireplace which they said will cost about $1200, they kept pressing that this needs to be done to prevent CO2, when I hesitated he said they would give me a 10% discount if I paid in cash. That set off some red flags in my head and as they were an out of state company we didn't even call. I told them to write up what they thought I needed and I'll discuss it with my wife and get back to them, after writing up the 'estimate' he said if you call before Monday then he can cut off another $150, which again made me even more leery. After they left I checked Angie's List (which I would have done if I knew my wife made the appointment) and found good reviews for Let There Be Light Chimney Sweep so I called them and left a message to see what their price would be for the work. I got a call around 8PM that evening from John - I was impressed that he called back that same evening. When I told him our situation he explained that I was approached by a typical 'gypsy' chimney sweep company and explained they did all the 'tricks' to get pressure you to pay for something that you didn't need. We spent the next hour or so on the phone discussing what I could do to fix the fireplace. He told me to make a cardboard template of the back and bottom panels of the fireplace and go to a metal shop to get them to create a 1/4 inch piece to fit in the fireplace, using fireplace cement to fill the cracks and then put in the steel piece. He said that will stop future fires from causing any more cracks and it will actually help the heat reflecting back to the room (not to mention painting it with heat paint will help the look), all total it should cost less then $150. He also mentioned that I should NOT cement the side panels which the NY company wanted to do because that will probably cause more problems with heat expansion (which implies either ignorance or they were looking to create future work). So thanks to Angie List I was able to get in contact with John who really impressed me with his honesty, knowledge, and professionalism. Not only did I save about a thousand bucks or so but his suggestion will increase the efficiency of my fireplace, needless to say when I do need a chimney sweep I'll be using Let There Be Light Chimney Sweep!"

"Tony & Andy showed up right on time and got right to work.  They removed the old chimney cap which had a couple of scratches on it.  Then the chase cover.  They took down the cap and took it apart and painted it with a heat proof paint.  Then they installed and caulked the new chase cover, then the replaced the cap. <br /> They did a really clean nice job, and I even got a discount using an Angie's list coupon,  The original price was 1165.00, it came down to 1106.75. <br /> Another fine job by Estates!!  Tony & Andy were amazing. <br /> Thanx for a job well done!! <br /> Lee Murphy <br />"

We look forward to working with you! SAM M 2 reviews·1 photo Working with Chris to come up with a strategy on the repairs needed to my specialized tile roof, was beyond exemplary. Not many companies have the experience Mast does with this roofing system and Chris was instrumental in finding solutions, like removing the existing tile over the garage pent roof to be used for the various repairs on the main roof, so the repairs used the same color and didn't scream that it was a repair. They don't make these terracotta tiles anymore (mine look like cedar shake), so cannibalizing the garage roof was the perfect call. Now we have extra for future fixes. The new asphalt section is barely noticeable from the street that it's different from the main roof. Thank you to Chris and the rest of the team they were such a pleasure to have working on the house. The pride they all took in their jobs was clearly evident."

"Things went smoothly from estimate to project completion. The chimney and all of the flues required a thorough clean-out and new liners. Mike, the senior chimney cleaner/mason, explained the work required in detail. He showed me, and took photos of, the debris inside the furnace/hot water heater flue as well as the main fireplace flue. He took before and after pix of the chimney crown and the repairs required. The new liners and caps appeared to be good quality. This is an expensive project, although this estimate was more competitive than other A-List Cleaners. Mike's willingness to communicate clearly and directly before, during and after the job was essential for me. I can use the fireplace again. The heaters run more efficiently. Before and after pix of the chimney and flues are now part of my homeowner's maintenance records."

"These guys were a pleasure to work with. They were responsive, clean, and knowledgeable. The lead (whose name I can't remember--sorry!) actually drew me a detailed picture on a box of what my weird, misshaped chimney flue looked like to explain what work would be necessary to bring the fireplace chimney up to code and render it safe to use. We ultimately chose not to have that work done because we were not likely to use the fireplace at all, and the cost would have been prohibitive for something we'd never use. We had them install a chimney cap to keep the critters and debris out and fill some cracks in the hearth, and called it a day for that work. But the furnace flue also needed work done to make it safe. They needed to actually break through the concrete wall to do it, and that work was done on our new house just when the painters were doing their job, so I was concerned that they would either get in each other's way, or the paint might be damaged, or both. But it was not a problem, and they worked so fast and cleanly it was not an issue. Hopefully we won't have any reason to have them come out again (since we're not using the fireplace), but if I did, I'd call them again for sure."

"Super. Desiree on phone was friendly and professional, set the appointment within one week and a one-hour time range, told me the tech's name and gave an estimate, agreed that if possible the job would be done on the spot. José arrived promptly, took a look and placed the cap, all within 15 minutes. Then agreed to send an estimate for a flue liner and stucco repair to the chimney exterior. Friendly and professional, good at clear explanation. They've earned their SuperService rating!"

"One of the big fears on such an old fireplace is hearing that the old construction isn't good enough anymore. Gary is a common sense kind of guy, as he put is 'it is what it is' and although it does have its drawbacks compared to modern day chimneys it still works. You just have to clean it more often as soot builds up quicker on the old jagged brick construction. I'm good with that!. His bigger concern was the 82 year old cast iron damper... if it breaks well then I have some decisions to make, as it is not available an longer. As other people noted, put down tarps/covers on everything, including his path in/out. If your looking for a common sense person to give you an honest opinion of your fireplaces condition, along with a good cleaning, The Chimney Wizard is your go to place, it will be mine now."
