"Water had always been a problem for my crawlspace, especially during raining and snowing season. Asking around, installing a French drain and a sump pump appeared to be the solution. I searched around and picked Insulation Co. Estimation without inspection seemed weird at first, but it made totally sense since the foundation layout is all there in the files. Jo had always been responsive, detailed and nice whenever I had questions. Scheduling was easy and Rafael and the team did a great and efficient job onsite. 2 months after the installation, we noticed that there was still standing water and they came back to install more pipes and gravels. We really appreciate the effort."

"<p>.Job started 3 days late due to delays on a previous job.</p> <p>Crew arrived on time Monday, 6/29 and installed braces under the foundation on the front, north side of the house and front south side.  re-leveled foundation which had settled slightly over the years.  This was done manually. </p> <p>Crews also installed pop up drains and conduit to allow water to flow away from the house as it was accumulating in the crawl space, causing some issues.  This was done on all sides of the house and interconnected all of our downspouts. </p> <p>Finally, underneath the house, crews installed braces to better support interior walls and stabilize the floor, which was flexing somewhat.  While in code, it was annoying and this was taken care of as well as re-leveling the floor in the kitchen and dining areas.  They also installed fresh vapor barrier plastic in the entire crawlspace</p> <p>This work took one day longer than scheduled, however, despite some additional purchases, there was not additional cost to us.  I am very pleased with the work performed under extreme heat conditions.  I would use Matvey again.</p>"

"Work was done quickly and professionally. Were very careful to collect and/or cleanup any water drips. Had to cut wall board in laundry room to repair hose bib. Removed as small a piece as possible and replaced when finished."

"Had a great experience with WA Evergreen Insulation from start to end. Rob came to my house, quoted me an insulation install, made absolutely sure that they would not cover any existing knob and tube with insulation and prevent a fire. The crew showed up and completed the job in one day. Once they got started it was clear they knew exactly what they were doing - and they managed to shimmy into the extremely small attic access and cleaned up my rat jerky in the crawlspace! I'm very happy with this job and with this company!"

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Seahurst, WA

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
