"I used him twice.  The first time he came in, he did a good job.  The next time I used him, I paid him but he didn't really provide all the things he was supposed to provide.  He was supposed to come back to give me some side light on the side walk but he didn't come back and do that.  He didn't do what I contracted him to do.  He did replace an electric meter for me but that really wasn't what I had asked him to do.  He even removed something from the front of the house.  He said that it was defective and I never heard from him again.  I was very disappointed with him.  He may have moved because I think he was moving when I used him.  His name is Rey Waters and he is a registered home electrician.  I was not very pleased and not happy with him.  He didn't follow through and that's not professional to me.  The worst thing was that he didn't even respond to me just to say sorry.  There's this part that it's my fault because I paid him before doing the work.  I should have let him finish the work before paying him so it was partly my fault."

"They did a fantastic job! There was a substantial glitch towards the end of the job. Jim resolved it within 90 minutes and had another workman there within hours. Photo was taken before plumbing fixtures were installed, it shows tile work only."

"We could not have been more pleased with the work the Madden Brothers did to create our new master bath and closet. From beginning to end, the project was a great experience. We were actually sorry to see them go when the job was finished! When has that ever happened with a contractor? George and Brian gave us exactly what we wanted and did so in a professional, yet extremely pleasant manner. We were very appreciative of their knowledge, experience, and attention to detail. They are both perfectionists when it comes to the way things should be done. If that wasn't all, they left the workspace and house clean and vacuumed every single day and I can't tell you how great, and unusual, that was. Even the subs commented on how neat they were! In addition to everything else, their painting skills are truly impressive (I have never seen straighter paint lines along any ceilings!). We couldn't be any happier with the results. "This was the second time we hired Willis. He did such a nice job on our kitchen three years ago, so we did not hesitate to hire him again. The job is done and we are very pleased with the results. We started with just a shower. We wanted to make it bigger and use the extra space we had. But we ended up remodeling the entire bathroom: bathtub, new sinks, painting. Willis was very patient with us and as always offered very nice ideas. It felt like he knew better than we did what we wanted our bathroom to look like. What was really nice is that he and his crew always cleaned up after they finish their work. This was very important to us as we have kids and they are all over the place. Given all the circumstances, the remodeling took much longer than we expected it to be, but we were willing to wait. It takes time to do the job properly."

Les and Eric designed amazing work space and Tim provided almost artistry in his installation.  There is not one thing that has come loose or was uneven - it was so worth all of the effort and the wait!
I will say this - it took longer than I had anticipated and with three kids in the house - that was hard.  But when it was done?  Oh my - so gorgeous and wonderful!

"Quick service, answered all questions.  They arrived on time and did a great job.  We had just moved into the house and the tub/shower in the guest bath looked "tired" and had some dings in it.  They repaired and refinished it.  The price was exactly as quoted.  The time of arrival and the time to completion were exactly as stated.  Left no mess - very neat.  There was a slight "chemical" smell after they left but it quickly dissapated.  And, most importantly, the tub/shower/surround look brand new!  Would recommend to others.

"Les promptly arrived for our scheduled estimate and was attentive to listening to our ideas, thorough and efficient in taking measurements and making calculations, and mailed us a written quote within the next few days. We hadn't moved in yet and Les was very flexible and accommodating of our schedules, able to meet us both at our old residence in Squirrel Hill and our new home in Etna.
Although it was a bit counter-intuitive, we asked for work on the floors to be done first so that they would be finished before we began to move our furniture. Our schedule was rather tight and Jim aka Mr. Sandman and his staff worked quickly and diligently. Our house is an older one without central air and it was especially impressive to see how hard everyone was working despite the 80-90 degree summer weather. Jim came to examine our floors and was very thorough in explaining the characteristics of our floor and how he was able to ascertain that it was white oak. We settled on a matte, light honey-colored finish to highlight the quality of the wood. The team removed our radiator covers and moved the piano that our house inherited (no small feat!) and was also able to patch in floor boards to fill in a gap where there had once been a banister. In all, a large living room, a large dining room, stair treads, small landing, and larger second floor landing were refinished flawlessly.
In the meantime, the crown molding that we had custom made to match the original molding was finished and Les offered to pick it up for us so that it would save us a trip out. Les' two employees worked quickly and thoroughly in removing the old, non-matching molding and cutting and installing the new pieces. The new pieces were indistinguishable from the old once we painted them and the workers took great care to not harm the new floor.
We thought that we would have to sister in some new floor beams to strengthen the floor under the bathroom but Les' workman informed us that structurally, the floor was sound, and there was no need to perform any repair. We certainly appreciated his honesty! Because we were able to save money by not doing that project. we asked Les to do some plaster repairs for us--we had a ceiling in the attic that needed to be mudded because of moisture coming in from the roof,several holes that we had inherited from the previous owner, and several more that were made by our electrician. All of these were fixed in a careful and efficient manner. We were especially impressed with the repairs on the ceiling where swirls in the plaster had to be matched. After a layer of primer and paint, those repairs too, were seamless.
Overall, we were very impressed with Commonwealth's professionalism and commitment to doing good work at a fair price. Les checked in regularly to ensure that the work was going well and that we were satisfied. He was easy to reach and all of his employees were pleasant, competent gentlemen. The scope and type of work we needed shifted during the project and I was most impressed with how Les was able to adapt to our changing needs. Our needs and budget were modest and I'm sure there are more lucrative projects out there, but Les always made us feel like our projects and our satisfaction was a priority to him and Commonwealth. It was our first experience working with a contractor and doing any home renovations and this was certainly a good one. We'll be happy to call on Commonwealth in the future for our next big projects.
