"I had a flood for the first time in the crawlspace and basement. I called Regional Foundation & Crawlspace Repair to come out. They wanted 27K for crawlspace encapsulation, that was too much and I could do most the work myself. I instead paid them $5,000.00 to bury a geodrain and install a triple safe sump pump system. This is the job they did, they installed the sump pumps at the 3rd to lowest point in the crawlspace and this geodrain goes back and forth from uphill to downhill. The lowest point still allows water to flood downstairs. They also cracked a chunk of my foundation at the point of sump pumps egress. Outside they just threw rocks on ground were the water comes out and can get back into the ground to reenter the crawlspace. They got 1 star because the people were nice, their job was not. Update as of 4/23/2024 they contacted me and said they wanted to make sure everything was good. A Girl and guy came out and noticed a couple things I didn't and said they would fix it that their company does not do work like that. They dug up all the previous geodrain and moved it to walls, tried to level out the drain and changed the location of the pumps and the drain outside. She had a really good work ethic and never took a break. The guy was on the other side of house and think he did good too. Everything they did looked professional and looks like they fixed everything. They had to come back today to finish the work today, but had three of them. It all looks good and they tested everything. They apologized about the old work and were not sure went wrong, but I don't have a negative view of the company now and am satisfied with the work they did. Just nocking one star for the under trained individuals that came the first time, the second crew was great!"

"since then I have found more water under my sink, maybe the trap. I have phoned three times and been given new appointments each time, but no one has ever showed up or called to explain why they weren't coming. I am so very sorry this has occurred because we were extremely pleased until this occurred <br />"

"My husband and I were very satisfied with the work they did! They cleaned out all trash and debris that was under our house. Then they installed a dehumidifier to help with any moisture. They also went the extra step and hung back up some of our duct work that had fallen with no extra charge! Everything was done in a very timely manner and was an excellent job at that. We are overly satisfied with the results, as they sat and explained to us everything they were going to be doing and what the reasoning for it was. My husband and I are very happy with the crawl space specialist and strongly recommend them for anyone looking for any of the many services they offer. <br />"

"I called them on a Thursday I believe, early afternoon, they answered after a couple rings. I asked how much it would cost for them to come out and it was VERY reasonable, and they said they could make it out to my house later that evening and gave me a small time frame. They came, told me what was wrong (it was an easy fix) and how much it would be to fix it. They were here maybe a total of a half hour. They were very nice, clean and polite. They also have like a one year warranty on the part they fixed for me so thats awesome.  It was my first time needing a plumber so I was a little nervous on picking just the right one, and I believe I did pick the right now. They were just great. I'll definitely use them again. "

"Went well despite the weather. Serviceman arrived promptly and agreed that yes I had a leaking water line, turns out the pipe had broken just before entering the house. After quoting a price for the repairs he began the repairs and stuck with it, despite cold blustery rain. Over all, I was satisfied with the repair and final price, I was not too keen on the $95.00 charge to come out and see if I had a problem. It was obvious from water bubbling out of the ground that I did have one. <br />"

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Sneads Ferry, NC

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
