"Anthony is a friendly, gregarious, and exceptionally hard working individual. He restored and regraded portions of our drive to a remarkable finish. It should be noted that prior to installation he offered personal and experienced insights and opinions on what works best not just at installation, but AFTER installation. That is to say that he shared stories of buyers remorse he had seen in other customers and the reasons for those regrets to help us in choosing the gravel for our driveway. And after the first rain, I can tell you he was absolutely right. The color of the gravel changes and I'm so thankful we didn't go with a darker color now! This is exactly the kind of personal attention to detail that demonstrates not only ability, but expertise. Phenomonal job at a remarkable price. I won't be bottoming out the car anymore or tripping on ruts in the driveway, it looks amazing, and feels great."

"Having waited weeks for a local paving company to set a date for my driveway a representative from Slender paving knocked on my door and asked if I would be interested in having my driveway blacktopped so I asked for a quote. They came in several hundred dollars above what the local company had bid it for and I said that I would go with the other company. He asked what the bid was and when he was told agreed to do it for the same amount. Promising that they could do it the next day I agreed. A few specific requests, which were part of the bid from the other company (e.g. wings on the entrance), we agreed upon the price and work to be completed. As they were finishing the paving I noticed that there were no "wings" as were requested and physically had been drawn in the dirt with my foot. I was told it would be taken care of and as I had to leave to take care of some business in town I left assuming it would be done as requested - MISTAKE. When I came back the representative came to collect the check I went out and showed him what was not done as requested and he simply said "sorry" and took the check. To add insult to injury, prior to starting the job, he had asked me if I have a 1/2" deep socket they could use to replace all the planks on there trailer which was rotted (just another clue I ignored) and when I asked if I could have it back, he said "could we still use it for a little longer as we are still working on the trailer?" He must have read the look on my face and said "I will go get it for you." Over all the driveway is blacktopped but the wing was not completed and the sides are not done very evenly - having never blacktopped I assume this was normal - but having done concrete work for many years I doubt it to be so. Another concern was that they stated they were out of Meridian, Idaho but all my research on reviews showed them only out of Phoenix, Arizona, all though most of the reviews were fairly good. Lesson learned; go with your local provider and not some roving company. Kind of reminds me of the old barn painters growing up down south. Job looked great until the rain came."

"I used TPL to install pavers on a large back patio over the summer. I loved the job they did from start to finish. It was a priority for me to get it done quickly and they finished a two-day job in one day by bringing an extra crew. As promised, Eddie was there at the start of the day to make sure everything was great and back at the end. In terms of price, I had bid the job with a number of other companies and the price from TPL was in the middle of the bids. Given the quality and professionalism, I feel I got a very good deal. I wait on home repair jobs for about 6 months before I review to make sure that the job holds up as well as it seemed to look on install; I am as pleased with the job today as when they did it this summer. It really transformed my backyard and I am so glad I took Eddie's design suggestions. I very highly recommend them."

"I did contact them via Angie's List. The gentleman finally came out about a month or so later after I found them and initially contacted them over Angie's List, I guess my request for a consult got lost. He was very professional. They sent someone out to do a price quote and the price they quoted me was basically $450 for a month or for a year to keep the lawn maintained and stuff like that. Keep the weeds controlled, the whole bit. I know the amount discussed was $450 but I can't remember if that was monthly, quarterly, semiannually, or annually. The estimate was free, I paid nothing for the estimate, they did not charge for the estimate. The gentleman came out and he asked me what I wanted specifically what my landscaping needs were. I said this is what I need basically someone to do lawn maintenance and we discussed back and fourth what they provided, what they didn't do or what additional services they could provide if necessary or I requested them That was discussed I was given a written estimate that was good for I think 3 months at the time but I Can't remember if the quote given to me at that price was as I said, for a month, or quarterly. I'm living on like a quarter of an acre lot. They were the only one that was local to me that I contacted. The price based on the fact that they don't have any competitors around here locally I would have to say B. Based on the estimate I would say a solid B for quality without any competition I haven't much experiencer to compare them to anybody else."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Sonoita, AZ

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
