"Phil Sirmon is a hands on business owner who coordinated or executed each step of the preparation of the lot for residential construction. This included survey and staking, brush clearing, tree removal and rough grading, and final grade with additional dirt. Everything went precisely as he planned and was in most cases ahead of schedule. His subcontractors and employees were without exception excellent. They focused on the job but were happy to answer questions as they arose. Actually few arose as Phil explained in detail how the job would progress and what would happen at each step. This was by far the best home building process that I have been involved in and not only strongly recommend Phil and his company for site work but suggest that he is a good source of advice or work on the whole building process. With respect to cost, his was the least expensive of three rough order of magnitude bids (actual cost depended on truck loads of debris removal, but because he has a disposal site on his property and owns the heavy equipment used, these costs were lowest of anyone I talked to). The work was ahead of schedule, done professionally, and at an excellent price. I suggest that anyone needing site work go to Phil Sirmon and P&C Solutions first."

"My husband and I wanted a driveway. We priced concrete and settled with gravel when we moved into our house. A year later, we set a budget off no knowledge beyond what others said they paid, a hunch. Our asphalt driveway looks phenomenal. T&T came in under budget, even with a little extra work. They did a fantastic job. Their employees were in high spirits, everyone was happy and kind, even on a 90+ degree day. We got exactly what we wanted, and they thanked us for the work, not the money. This is a genuine, generational family business. I canâ t recommend them enough."

"Jarrod was hired to do a massive land clearing job of over 15 acres worth of heavily wooded land, He came in with a Very fair price compared to other competitors out there, his work ethic and everything that went into. The project was above and beyond My expectations. All of his equipment is up-to-date and performed amazing during the duration of the project. He also installed a culvert and entryway leading into the property for the construction site, highly recommend very reliable and honest."

"My wife and I just moved to Fairhope Al and leased a home for the next year as we start our venture in selecting or building a new home here. As all rental properties there where several items we felt needed attention to make our lives comfortable while we are residents. Everything from installation of ceiling fans, to a new door with doggy door for our fur son, pictures and mirrors hung, some painting, electrical work, bathroom fixtures and etc; Yes it sounds as we remodel the home; well let me say that Mr. Terry with Youngblood Home Improvements responded extremely well. He had the skill, knowledge and staff to perform any task that we asked of him and actually guided us in some ways to save time and money. So if you have a job that's need done call them. Terry will get it done for you."

"Absolutely fantastic!  Years ago I had granite countertops installed.  The installer is now out of business and the sink that was installed eventually separated from the countertops and managed to take all the piping out with it when it fell.  Even though these guys had nothing to do with the installation, Hard Rocks Stone and Tile really helped me out within hours of calling (and two days before Christmas)!  My sink is reattached and I am thrilled they were able to do this for me.  Will definitely call them for new bathroom vanity in the new year!  Thank you very much! <br />"

"Mr. Chapman was outstanding. Over the last six months I've had lots of work done on my house by many different kinds of service providers (painters, electricians, plumbers, flooring installers, etc.). He is tops among all these people not only for the quality of his work and his responsiveness, but also for his very reasonable price. He was very impressive beyond merely doing what he promised; without any prompting from me he went the extra mile to make sure the work looked as good as possible, even if it meant more time on the job for him than he had originally thought. I will use him again for any masonry needs. I recommend him very highly to you. <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Spanish Fort, AL

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
