"Pat made sure my new home was up to par by performing a complete Home Inspection. He made absolutely sure everything was A ok before he left. He checked the septic system, insulation, signs of wood infestation pests, performed a water sample analysis and conducted a Radon emmisions test. He even followed up by returning to the property a few days later free of charge after I noticed something after the initial inspection. He made one of the most important steps in buying my first home stress free. He displayed a very good attitude which made him very approachable and easy to talk to. He made suggestions on the minor repair work that was identified and gave approximate times at which I should address each task. <br />"

"I originally called Andy to get a quote when we needed to get our house inspected fairly quick. After leaving him a Voice Mail he got back to me and provided me with a full detail explanation (over the phone) of what his service covered, how he went about doing the inspection and roughly how long it would take. This to me was very important when choosing him over any other competitors. He took the time to explain even PRIOR to him even getting the job. We setup the appointment for the next day. <br /> Andy was punctual, professional and ready to start the inspection by the time we got to the house. After some preliminary paperwork and some explanation (again - which I loved) of how we were going to tackle the day we started the inspection. <br /> He was very knowledgeable, explained and answered all of my questions and concerns and even suggested different ways as to how we could mitigate some of the things he pointed out if we decided to move forward with buying the house. <br /> We received our full report via e-mail in 48 hours as he had indicated we would and we are currently waiting for the lab results from the Radon testing. After spending 4 hours going over every inch, nook and cranny of the house we were extremely satissfied with Andy's service and would HIGHLY recommend him for anybody in need of a house inspection. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"As first time home-buyers, Chuck made the inspection process a pleasant one. I'm a bit of an anxious person who asks a gazillion questions in one breath. Chuck dealt with that better than most, he took the time to inform me of what he saw every step of the way. He arrived early, worked on the outside while we waited for the agent to open the house. He checked every room thoroughly, top to bottom, I mean this guy was like looking for any possible thing that could be wrong. This made me feel very secure of my investment in him and his time. The best part is he used the device to check for any signs of water leaks!!! my biggest fear is a water issue and mold, so this certainly put me at ease. I especially loved his reaction when he saw the foam insulated attic! he was so proud - and having an A Grade home inspector that proud meant everything to us!! he also set up the radon testing all reasonably priced. The report arrived within 24 hours, clear, coherent and professional. This guy is awesome, knowledgeable and we especially appreciated his fantastic sense of humor through the process. He is well-rounded and knows more than just home inspections, he knows the market and he brings all the right connections in Orange County, NY. Thank you Chuck!"

"Lance made the whole process seamless and worry-free. From discovery of my homes elevated radon levels through system installation and completion of post-installation testing I felt that I was in good hands at all times. The cost of work was competitive with other quotes I requested, but the personal attention and responsiveness I received was truly the most valuable part of my experience. It was also welcome to find a company that values innovation and stays current with latest technology. No other company I spoke with offered a rapid testing alternative with time-based readings of my homes recorded radon levels. Thank you Lance for putting my family back to ease."

"After a home inspection I was told that I needed to <br /> remediate a ?black substance? aka mold from the roof of my attic crawl space. <br /> The black stain covered most of the plywood and some rafters. I was told it was <br /> probably due to poor ventilation. <br /> I had less than two months to remediate before closing. This <br /> was a first for me so knowing where to begin and who to call was the most <br /> difficult decision to make. Not many people talk about mold in their home so <br /> finding a contractor was going to be a challenge. <br /> I went right to Angieslist and started looking and I came <br /> across Enzyme Life Sciences. I read the many reviews and saw pictures from one <br /> customer who had the same issue I had. There were before and after pictures of <br /> the job performed. I thought if my roof sheathing could look like that I would be happy. <br /> So I called and talked to Mike Partlow who understood my problem and he talked <br /> me through three part process of cleaning the mold and removing the stain. Mike <br /> is out in Albany but has trained contractors throughout the NYS region so being <br /> in Buffalo was not an issue. I talked with a few other contractors and some <br /> were either booked for the next few months or were on vacation ? (during <br /> December). Ultimately, I decided to go with Enzymes Life Sciences and I?m so <br /> glad I did. Within a week, Mike sent out a gentleman named Scott who cleansed <br /> the mold from the attic. The attic looked clean as promised. Mike also gives a <br /> 5 year warranty that is transferrable to the new owners which was very <br /> advantageous when adding it to the amended home contract with the buyers. <br /> Mike also stuck with me after the job checking in with me to make <br /> sure the sale was going through with the cleansing completed. That's one other thing <br /> to look for when shopping for a contractor; Mike is there for you and stands behind his work. <br /> Finally, the house closed on schedule within a few days of the final inspection. <br /> I can?t say enough about Enzyme Life Sciences, if you need to get rid of any <br /> mold in your home Mike is your guy. <br />"

"John did a full inspection of the condo unit and produced a 16-page, highly detailed report. Ninety percent of the information in the report was something that I would have never thought to ask. I took his recommendations for repairs and submitted them to the seller with a request to fix the problems. John was very professional and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend his services."

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Spring Valley, NY

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
