"Dependable & professional, knowledgeable; the only less-than-ideal issue was when waiting for parts there was quite a wait for scheduling return visits. Would have been better if they scheduled based on when part ordered is due to be delivered instead of waiting to put you on list after it's received because then you wait for about a week for open appointment"

".This visit occurred prior to Orville selling the business.  I have always been satisfied with Mr. Hay's work.  He was always up front about his recommendations and what he thought best for the situation and the estimated costs.  He was our first choice of plumbers in the Jacksonville area. <br /> However in 2014, it is a different story.  We needed to have the sump pumps and garbage disposal replaced.  Tried contacting the business several times without success.  We left messages, but did not receive any follow up contact.  I do know that at the time, they were involved with a large job at the grain elevators south of town.   <br /> We finally got tired of leaving messages.  We utilized Manchester Heating and Plumbing.  I was able to talk to a person versus an answering machine.  Chad arrived promptly and efficiently installed the sumps and garbage disposal at a very reasonable price.  He arrived on time and is very professional.  He is fair and honest in his pricing and estimates.  I would highly recommend this local independent contractor. <br />"

"We received an estimate from Jim Wilson Plumbing to bring a new gas line into our home. We were planning a kitchen remodel and were debating between either a gas range and oven (which we'd had in our previous home and loved) and a magnetic induction range and convection oven. Jim Wilson plumbing was incredibly knowledgeable and we felt the quality (quality of proposed materials and versatility of the design) and value (price for quality/utility) of the solution they proposed was higher than other companies we received estimates from. However, we ultimately chose to go with the magnetic induction range, which did not require running the gas line. If we need plumbing in the future, however, Jim Wilson plumbing would be the first company we called. <br />"

"The employee, which I found out to be the owner Shawn burgess, decided that me asking for my mom to be there to approve and supervise the work was not good enough for him. He proceeded to call me, a 19 year old girl must I add, "white trash" "fat" "bi**h" and so many things because me and my mom live in a trailer because after some family trouble we have fallen under hard financial time. He then saw I was wearing a USN necklace for my fiancé who is active military and told me "he must have joined to get away from whites trash loser like you" and saying he was dating me out of pity and must not have been able to make it to college so military was his only option. I thought this was completely uncalled for. Not only being a rude unprofessional grown man to a teenage girl, but to then turn around and insult our troupes and from the owner nonetheless. He is unprofessional and rude. Save your time and money (and your dignity) and go with a more respectful business. <br />"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Springfield, IL

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
