Customers say: Quick response

"I looked into Angie's list because I was having a difficult time finding anyone that would do repairs/painting at our house in Vt. There I found Ridge Top Painting and Carpentry. I called Jeff, who lived almost an hour from us, to give us an estimate and put us into his schedule. The work that Jeff Lemire did was superior. His estimate was very accurate, including some unforeseen problems once he started the work. <br /> <br /> He left the job clean, as if he was never there. <br /> <br /> I would not hesitate to call him again or to refer him. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />"

"We are extremely delighted and completely satisfied with our new roof and the workmanship provided by J & L.  Starting with John who was knowledgeable and helpful during the estimate process.  He answered all of our questions and put us at ease about such an expensive undertaking.  His product offering was excellent with high quality shingles and warranty.  We had four estimates provided as comparison.  One was far more expensive and the others were similar, but we feel we got the best in workmanship and that's what counts.  He and his crew showed up on time every day and put in a hard day's work.  They work as a team and there is no goofing off.  The crew was polite and answered any of our concerns as the work progressed. When they began tearing off the roof they found the reason there had been leaks from the shoddy job done by the original roofer and corrected everything. Because we had this done in early June they had to work between the rain drops. We were never left exposed as they covered all their work carefully and we had no issues.  Each night they cleaned up and disposed of all waste and swept our large driveway area and ensured there were no nails or sharp objects to protect not only us but our dog. Just before the roofing was started we had the house painted and they took pains not to cause any damage to the walls by covering the area where they were working.Because we have a flat area near the entrance, they put in standing seam metal roofing to aid with ice dams, etc. They worked this in beautifully with the shingles and it just flows evenly to the viewer. John's company offers many other home improvement services. We would definitely hire him again. <br />"

"Angie's list won't let me submit information for work peformed at two different locations ina similar time frame so I will describe it here. <br /> The window job was at my home. <br /> After the foreman came out to my house to measure and view the rooms that needed replacement windows, I was provided with an email quote of $498 each for two windows "installed." I sent a deposit check on 2/17. I was told that the install would begin on May 5, but work did not start until May 15. I was also told it would take a few hours during the morning. It ended up taking two full days (making me miss work) and the job was still was not done. It was clear that the carpenter who was sent out was in over his head. It seemed to me after the first day that they were running the risk of losing money so I offered to forgo the second window for which no installation had even begun. The foreman came out himself and said no they wanted to finish the job and be professional about it. <br /> After two full days the carpenter was almsot finished with the job. He cleaned up the area very nicely but left a pile of construction debris in my driveway. The reason the job wasn't finished was that the original trim could not be re-used so I was left with wood trim to stain and paint and wait for someone to come out and finish the job. It wast finished on May 20. The quality of the work was excellent. <br /> When I got the bill I was surprised to see a cost overrun of 36 &. The quote was for $498 installed, but the final bill was $1355.26. I complained to the foreman who had quoted the job and he said he would put it right. The office worker who sends out the bills saw things differently and said that since they couldn't reuse the casings, they added the extra charge. I do not understand why a professional cannot anticipate this. They also charged me for extra hardware because they had ordered thw wrong color. <br /> The siding job was at a different property. I was quoted $2600 for one large exterior wall. I sent a deposit check on 3/1 and was told they would begin on May 12. By May 14 they hadn't started and I heard nothing despite asking for updates. June 11 I got an email asking if I could meet the foreman at the worksite the following day. As I was headed out on a business trip I could not. The workers showed up anyway and gave my property manager a hard time because he refused to let them enter a tenant's apartment so they could use the tenant's electricity without consent.By the time I got there three days later they had a problem getting an elecrictian to come out on short notice to remove the meters so I had to call my electrician to help out. I am still finding little piece of trim on the lawn and the identifying numbers for the fuel oil fill tubes were replaced incorrectly. The total bill came to $4900 ($2600 + $2300) which was reasonable but with $750 tacked on because the window trim was not included in the original quote. I had specifically mentioned the need to window trim when I had asked for the quote. The quality of the work was excellent. <br /> I received the bill on July 1 and iniitated online payment from my bank within 14 days. Home Partners does not accept transfers so the bank has to send a paper check. Home Partners was quick to send a "nag" email on July 16 reminding me about the invoice for $5650. <br />"

"Contacted Housewright Construction, owner visited site to review work, and prepare estimates (two separate jobs). Received estimates within a week. My wife and I met with owner (Craig) on Saturday to pay deposits for both estimates and scheduled work. We had to follow up on the start date, and work began the next day. Craig came out and introduced us to his work lead (Rick Page) who was both very professional, and courteous. He started the work immediately protecting the floor and meticulously removing the existing wall to verify the plumbing location and verifying that the wall was not a load bearer. He removed the debris as he went along, keeping the mess to a minimum. He also cut access panels into the kitchen ceiling and floor to verify that the plumbing relocation could be done without disturbing the upstairs, or downstairs areas. He had a plumber there two days later to verify that the access would be adequate to do the job. The plumbers did the relocation within two hours, and likewise, kept the area clean during and after the work. Jeff then began to close up the work, and scheduled a painter to do the preliminary tape and bedding. The painter was there a couple of days later, and spent 5 hours closing up and laying the base layers of mud and tape. All that remains is a topcoat and final paint. That is to be scheduled in the next few days. Bottom line is very professional and competent workers and work. We were particularly pleased with how clean everything, and everyone was during the whole process. <br />"

"He is old school guy and he is not online.  He does everything and he is a super notch.  He is a great guy.  He did a good job.  He is very straight forward and I will highly recommend him.  I had complete flexibility and saved money and he let me work with him.  I specified what I wanted for roofing, siding, trim work on the outside.  I did the design and we worked closer together for that to happen.  He gave me suggestions and rough idea and details because I was there.  The original part of my house was built in 1837 and catching on to that there was a lot of discussion and we discovered things as we went along and it was great.  He had enough experience and he was about 8th or 9th guy that we talked to contract.  We kept the part of the 1st floor and removed a part of 2nd floor.  He was capable doing that and had great degree of fact to do things and when I asked him, ‘what you would do?’ and he had an answer.  My wife and I are very pleased with him and his efficiency.  He was my general contractor.  He sub contracted excavation work, concrete work and roofing.  He worked with us.  He is a plumber and gave up his fee for the plumber because he would normally break in an additional fee as a general contractor.  He was generous.  He is honest and hardworking guy.  He is on time.  He takes a coffee break and lunch break always at the same time.  He is always methodical.  Everything is very itemized and does not waste things.  He is very good on that.  He was excellent guy and doesn’t waste any materials.  He is a local guy and he had built a lot of houses in the area and we liked the houses.  We liked him because he was straight forward and liked his work.  And all the guys he worked with respected his work and said he is a great guy.  He is an exacting guy but very fair.  People enjoy working with him."

"They backed out and he didn’t want to take this project and recommended Dennis who I was very happy with.  I did have a rough estimate and his partner wanted to retire and they were trying to finish up things that he had already committed before and not take on new commitments.  I checked his website and he does a lot of posting beam work which is very nice stuff and that was more than I was looking for.  In the website his place is gorgeous but he didn’t do any work for us.  It ended up costing about what he said it would cost with another builder.  His responsiveness was good."

FAQs for major home repair (general contractor) projects in Springfield, VT

In many cases, it’s much less expensive to convert a bus than to buy an RV, especially if you’re considering a newer RV model, which can exceed $100,000.

Another huge benefit of school bus conversion is that you are in control of the renovation project. You get to pick your camper's new layout and all the appliances and furniture.

While school buses can easily cost $300,000 when they're new, you can often find used buses for just a few thousand dollars. These vehicles experience extreme depreciation due to government regulations; they can only be used for so long before they must be replaced. Due to those same regulations, other government agencies cannot purchase them for their own uses, so the consumer market is the only place they can go.

The length of time it takes to convert a bus depends on the scope of the project (and size of the bus), how much work is DIY vs. done by a professional contractor, and how much work you’re doing up front.

In general, expect at least a couple of months for a conversion, but larger conversions could take six months to a year. Remember: You can tackle projects as you go: Get the basic work done so that it’s livable, and then continue to enhance your living space over time.
