"Isaiah came out in the late afternoon and was able to fish a wire out and open the doors. He reprogrammed the remotes, checked everything out, and told us how to avoid that particular problem in the future. I am so glad to have discovered this company on Angi and heartily recommend Garage Door Doctor to all those who have garage door problems."

"Austin of Pro Garage and Gates did an excellent job on replacing my garage door that was damaged during a recent storm. He responded quickly and completed the install on time for a reasonable price. I was impressed with his workmanship and attention to details. Some items stored in my garage had to be moved to give him access and he put everything back exactly as it was. I highly recommend PGG!"

"One of the cables on one of our garage doors snapped, so I needed to get it replaced as the door couldn't be easily opened. I found ProLift via Angi's, and Wilson called me within an hour of requesting quotes and was able to set up an appt with one of their technicians this afternoon. I received a text with the technicians name and picture as well as a link to a map that showed where he was and his ETA. David came out, assessed the situation, and gave me a rundown of what needed to be replaced. While I was expecting to replace the cables and springs on both doors, it ended up being the broken cable, the springs on both doors, the pulleys on both doors, and the rollers on both doors. David made sure to show me exactly why they needed to be replaced and how they contributed to the fraying of the cable that snapped. On every wheel and pulley, the bearings were shot, resulting in significant play such that the cable was slowly wearing against the edge of the pulley wheel. If they weren't replaced, the other cables would suffer the same result. Fortunately, the other three cables were just fine. He performed the work quickly and observed good safety practices to keep the door from slamming down or the keep the springs from causing issues while he worked. They provide a 3 year warranty whereas other companies only provide 1, and their pricing was in line with other estimates. The doors now open and close very smoothly and are amazingly quiet compared to before. I can highly recommend ProLift and David."

FAQs for garage door opener installation and replacement projects in Stafford, TX

A chain-drive opener costs less, but it’s louder and needs more upkeep. If your budget allows, a belt-drive model is often the smarter long-term buy, especially for an attached garage with a bedroom above where noise matters. The decision between a chain or belt opener comes down to your budget and needs, and your garage door opener installer can help you choose an option that best suits you.

Choosing the right horsepower for your garage door opener is crucial for safe and efficient performance. Your garage door’s design and material determine the required horsepower. A single-car garage demands a half horsepower rating, while a two-car garage requires a rating between three-fourths and 1.25 horsepower. Selecting the proper power level ensures optimum performance and durability over the life of the opener.

Plan on a quick garage door tune-up once or twice a year. Tighten the chain or belt, lubricate moving parts, test the safety sensors, and swap out weak batteries in the remotes or backup unit. A few dollars in lubricant and 30 minutes of work can fend off costly repairs, keep the door running smoothly, and help the opener hit its full life expectancy.
